| Because they are B.S.ing you! There are more important things to looks. But looks often are the first attractant. If looks are your Achilles' heal, then you need to get yourself noticed through some other means. Intellect and humor often help get one noticed.

| I think what they are trying to say is looks are not that important. They mean that they would date someone they found mildly attractive if there is a connection over someone drop dead gorgeous with issues.

| Well, I am one that actually doesn't look at pictures before I respond to an email. When I do look finally at their pictures I am not looking for that Eye Candy. I am looking for do they like themselves. Do they at least shower regularly. Be surprised at some of the pictures I have seen. Do they respect their bodies and maybe enough not to post a trashy picture of themselves for all the world to see. Do they have only glamour shots or are they confident enough to post something natural.
I do go for the intellect first. When I meet someone in person, IF it is physical first it usually is a smile, flash in their eyes. It is never the body as a whole.
I do know some people say these words but when I talk behind the scenes it is a different story. I think those people are fooling themselves.
I mean recently I was told by someone that they wanted the entire package. I believed him then he told me I didn't have the Shock and Awe factor he was looking for. Big deal somewhere someone else will think I do.

| Because to some people they aren't. I'm not.
I've done the pretty boy thing. Most were jerks. Few had real intelligence. And most just had Ego.
My ex was a someone most would consider a geeky sort of look. When I met him, I wasn't necessarily physically attracted to him, he was pleasant enough to look at, but I wasn't looking at him as a potential partner then either! He was just "some nice guy" in the baggage claim of the airport I was sitting in.
What WAS attractive (as I got to know him) was his THINKING, his intelligence, his openness, his willingness to be vulnerable around me, his sensitivity, and how he treated people as well as me. I was attracted to his HEART.
I heard something recently about how we instantaneously judge or label someone (he's a geek, she's a Barbie doll, he's a jock, he's a nerd, etc). Because we have done that, we miss the SPECIAL qualities this person might have to offer us... because we've labeled them and from that point forward -- we don't really see who they are anymore.

| Looks aren't everything. Some extremely handsome men are jerks and therefore ugly in my eyes. I never dated "pretty boys" and probably never will BUT the man has to be pleasing to MY eyes.

| Looks are imporant , but you have to look at the whole picture. Is he sweet,smart,oh and makes you laugh when you feel down?? No you shouldn't seek out a partner just based on looks alone! At least that is my opinion
