Dress appropriately for the date. When I go golfing, I wear golf clothes - Going out to dinner, depends on the type of restaurant it is.

It really does depend on what you and your date are going to be doing. I wouldn't wear a ballgown to go to an amusement park. So It all depends on what the date is about.

Dress how you are most comfortable... ask the gentleman you are about to go out with what kinda dress is appropriate for the occassion or location of the event. But most of all, just enjoy the being who the date is with, for you don't have to impress anyone but yourself, really!!!

I'd suggest you wear your favorite clothing that you feel really good in, feel beautiful and is comfortable (the better stuff... not the "comfy" clothes like sweats or something you'd wear around the house). You don't want to be "figity" when on your date.

Don't wear sleazy or low cut, or really tight. Age appropriate (you are almost 40, don't wear shirts that show your bellybutton!).

Don't try new hairdos either on first dates! Tried-and-true is best. Get experimental later!

Suggestions for first date:

Casual (coffee - small cafe) - jeans/skirt and a blouse
$$$-$$$$ (nice restaurant) - skirt and blouse (not too short), nicer pants and blouse
Nightclub - whatever is comfortable to dance in, again, not too sleazy!

Good luck (don't listen to werkit -- he's totally hung up on weirdness)

My form of dressing up to go out on a date or anywhere else is my jeans, and either a nice t shirt or western shirt and my cowboy boots and most usually my Stetson hat that I shaped with the bull rider's crease. Oh, and my secret weapon.....Axe body spray! Touch is the best scent and works really well and I get all sorts of good comments on it!!!

Basically, best thing to do is go with what you are most comfortable wearing when you want to go out and do something! And if the date doesn't like how you look, then he certainly isn't the one for you!

I only change my style of clothes for the seasons, not dating. Mind you, I don't dress badly, but rarely will you see me change styles for special occassions. Usually, it would have to be a wedding or such. Your average clothing(A.K.A. what you enjoy wearing normally) should be fine. If the guy can't accept you in regular garb, is he really into you for who you are?
