The thread on here regarding dating someone with an STD prompted me to wonder: When was the last time you were checked for ALL STD's including HIV and do you give a copy of this report to your mate once you've decided to sleep with them? When I last had my checkup I asked about these being newly divorced and all and was informed by my PCP that most people don't even know what they are carrying. So how often do/should you get tested and do you provide proof?

The last person I was with I gave a copy to and still used condoms.

Summer 1998, when my ex husband cheated on me and kept coming back. Went to the Public Health clinic....talk about embarrassing. And yes I do have the papers, somewhere. Only been with one man since, and he was clean.

Three years ago, 2005. I wouldnt mind providing a copy to anyone if they asked as long as I got the same from them, but it wouldnt be a requirement. The requirement would be to wear a condom.

tests are fine for your own piece of mind, but to look at someones elses test to see if they are "safe" is crazy. They could have stopped somewhere on the way home from the doctors and picked up something!

Well if you only have one partner, you only get tested the one time...and you just show him the papers. If you have multiple partners then you mine as well hang it up. Noone has a right to tell you what kind of sexually transmitte disease that you have, nor do they have a right to tell you if they have HIV....It is a sick society...I cant believe that woman even posted that thread. It made me sick, and im still sick about it. I went to my OBGYN and she said most sexually transmitted diseases come dwon from NYC...seriously, the students come down and pass it all around as i was catious because something didnt seem right and i had an infection just due to a round of antibiotics that were strong, and i was like OMG....she said no no no no, i understand.... some STD's can trick you, and you will be very sorry she said if you get one, because some of them can never be cured. Wouldn't you be embarrassed every time you went to a walk in clinic for a cold or something and they asked you do you have any STD's in the past, etc....but they never ask you if you have HIV? have you ever noticed that? because it is a right to privacy.

I think that it is your partner's business if you have an STD that they could be in risk of getting.
I think that any time you are potentially getting a new partner, you should get tested to make sure that you're not going to spread any surprises to him or her.

I got checked once a few years ago after a scare. I freaked out so bad that I've hardly dated since.

I get tested once every three to six months but for HIV it's once a year. I have not been with anyone though since I divorced a while back so I don't have anything to worry about. I would provide proof if asked but to be honest I would really not think ask.

Right after I finished college, I got checked out. I am clean and inactive now. Everyone should get checked out. In many places its free. Keep is safe people and, if you are going to do any dirty deeds, wear a condom.

The teacher says so.

Summer of 2005 when I retired from the Air Force. I've only been with one man since, but I'll probably get checked again now that it's come up... can't be too safe!

I have to have a complete physical once a year for my employer. While I am already in the Dr. office, it takes $83.00 and two extra vials of blood to be checked for everything. I keep a copy of the lab report in the trunk of my car. In the last eight years I have only had one person ask to see it. If you spend the time to get to know someone before the relationship gets sexual, You usually have a good idea of whether you need to ask or not.

I haven't been sexually active in a LONG time because I don't just sleep with anyone. But when I was dating my daughter's dad (we dated for 9 years) I had a check up every 3 months and made him come too. And he heard my results and I heard his. Mind you that he cheated on me a few times. So, if I was to ever meet someone and become sexually active with that person, guaranteed there will be testing before anything and of course the use of condoms.

I got a complete blood test done for EVERYthing back in early 2005. It was a horrible scare and a horrible situation, but at least it forced me to get a test done.

So let me make sure I'm remembering your post right - you showed him your clean bill of health and he still used a condom? If this is the case, maybe he has something. Perhaps you should have him do the screening as well ... ?

when I found out my daughters daddy had hepc I got checked for everything (I found papers on my ex he tried giving blood he had hepb) I do believe they checked me for Hep but I never got the papers from them so I have no clue what they checked for they did draw 3 vials of blood for it tho. they said Im clean for Hep and HIV but no other details
