on april 1st i think that everyone in america should boycott the gas stations. i know i will for 3 days. truck drivers cannot make a living, some people have to decide weather they should buy gas to get to work or buy food for their families, our prices of everything from groceries to medicine is being driven up, and the average american cannot make it anymore. in the meantime, the oil companies grow richer, the saudis buy more silver cars and palaces, and who is getting f**ked? the average joe who is trying to make a living and support his or her families. we need to take a stand and put an end to all this madness, so come on people. call in sick at work for one day, shut down the big busnesses who are profiting from our misfortune and put an end to all the greed of corperate america.

Unforunately big business is what drives the econmy, so does war. The United Staes Government is a business. Republicans want to lower taxes and spend to get the economy flowing. Democrates cut big business programs like the militry and space prgrams then wanna raise taxes, In MD, We had a Republican Governer, saved 2 mill dollard, then a Democrate gets in office, all of a sudden there's NO money he raises taxes and still can make the budget, GO F*CKIN figure that one out

Won`t work, calling in sick for many means they will miss the time,
and merely shoot themselves in the foot. The fuel will be purchased anyway.
I just got back from Europe yesterday, and we still have the cheapest fuel prices.
They pay about 1.145 Euros per litre. So they are paying in dollars about 6 dollars a gallon.

Sad part of the high gas prices is that they are sitting on the technology. We could be getting 35 MPG with a 4 X 4 truck. A friend of mine new a guy that was getting it. They forgot to take a computer chip out of it when they sold it. The garage tried to get it back in on a bogus recall, but they guy wouldn't bring it in. Then the garage tried three times to steal the truck. He had it for four years. They fonally called him last fall and asked what it would take to get that truck back. He told them he wanted a brand new one with all the bells and whistles. They said, "We can't do that." Three days later they called him and said, "Come in and pick it out!"

Through many many emails it was suggested to not buy gas for just 1 day. And people would not do it. Just think what one day would mean, plus the same people would not be buying anything in those stores, so the businesses would be losing that profit also.
It is a shame that our government is putting us through this when there is enough oil to avoid these high prices.
There is always talk of other ways to run our cars, but nothing gets done to produce this, why??? so the greedy oil companies can their big bucks. One of these days when know one can afford to get to work, or buy food for their families, will the government wake up then??? JMO

I'm always ready to boycott gas stations. They would lose billions and be forced to lower prices. It doesnt help that we have a dumbass for a president who goes to bed with these companies and is probably profiting nicely under the table from this.

Oil companies are how my company makes its money. When they come down to do an audit, they take us to the most expensive resturants and will buy anything extra that we really could do without, because they have a commitee that says we need it.Have people on thier payroll that they could do w/o. The list goes on and on.That is some of the reason our oil prices are so high. Corporate mentality-go figure Oh I forgot...pay me to be in mgt. while I play on the internet all day LOl

I have a friend in Belarus that tells me they pay $10 per gallon. I also agree that a boycott will not work. The answer is in our ability to move away from gas. I always wondered why our electric cars weren't developed to a higher degree. After all we can generate electicity with wind and does not the car create wind while it is moving, thus never have to be plugged in and should be able to go on for ever.

Boycotting the gas companies was tried last fall. All that happened is the gas companies raised the price of gas the day after the boycott, to regain all their loss in profits. It didn't help us, and actually hurt us when we had to pay the higher prices in gas, in retailiation for our boycott.
It's a Great Idea but it just doesn't work.

I've been a trucker for 27 yrs and owned my own since 99. The CB is filled with chatter of a week long shutdown possibly April first, but more than likely May 16... I've been thru 2 shutdowns in th 80's and it got really hairy... bricks thrown from overpasses, gunshots, etc... If we could get even 75% of the trucks to stop it wouldn't take a week and the stores will be out of food, no gas at the stations, etc... the price of everythings going up because it cost me over $680 to fill up yesterday and thats a 3-4 time a week occurance and I cannot eat that cost so I pass it on to the shipper....

to those of you who think a boycott would not work i think it would i feel for the europeans but i have to think about my country first. and if even half of the truckers did not drive for a week the stores would be hurting. and to the miss who works for the oil co. you should feel ashamed that men and women of your co. cannot feed their families because they have to choose between food and gas to get to work. not all of us have the luxury of being a corp. management kiss ass.
