| I was asked an interesting question tonight. I know what my thoughts are, but I was wondering what ya'lls were. Should the man in the relationship have the upper hand in all decisions that have to be made? Should his word be the final word? Please, I would like everyone's thoughts.

| ummm...............NO. Let me repeat that: NO!!!!
Decisions in a good relationship are mutual decisions, not arbitrary commands given by one person to the other. My ex called me controlling because, in the end, he wanted all the decision-making, and he was a freakin alcoholic! For example, house insurance in Florida went through the roof after 2004. Last year he wanted me not to insure the house!!! (Like I was ever gonna let THAT happen) He even told my twin sister in CA she was only allowed to call me once a week. You should have seen the e-mail she sent him - she had more guts than me!

| This is a free country, respect is needed from both ends. One hand can't clap. Communication is impossible with one person, this is America. Shared ideas must be much better than one person who just keeps ranting without expecting a response.

| He can make a decision on the washer and dryer if he's doing the laundry. Refrigerator if he's doing the shopping. Floor tiles if he's gonna mop it. Dishwasher? He says no way, then he's doing the dishes. I could go on and on.

| Depends a lot on what the decision is. Day to day ones, make your own decisions (he AND she).
Large ones - should be made together. If no consensus, somebody has to make a decision.
Depends on the personalities who that will be.
Sometimes I just don't feel like making a decision, other times I need to be heard, and I am quite capable of making my own decision as well. No 'one size fits all' answer from me, sorry!

| TLC, loved the response. Forestrose, no worries...I agree with everything you said. The person that posed the question to me originally, thought that the man should ALWAYS 100% have the upper hand. Rickie, I agree, thanks.

| It'd be nice for a change! Throughout time and history men NEVER had the upper hand... Ladies only let us think that...

| I suggest 60/40 on a rotating basis. Keeps people on their toes.
