| Hi mirandaright... How about you???
Actually, I had posted somewhere else about an experience I had while dating someone and this book.
I had been going out with this guy who lived 2 doors down from me. There was intense chemistry, but everytime we got together, he would give me the silent treatment for days.
One day, it was my perception that he was ignoring me (he was out in the driveway and I passed by him 2 times going in and out of my driveway, and by the time I got out of my car, he had packed up and gone inside. That really upset me, so I blasted him with an email telling him he was "too much work."
I NEVER react this intensely. But that evening, turns out I had just bought the book and read it cover-to-cover in just one evening! I realized he had triggered my "pain bodies" due to my past rejections. I immediately wrote him an apology and salvaged our friendship.
I was glad I realized this, because with his own woundedness, this could have been a real drama thing. But it wasn't and I realized things for what they were. This is good because just 6 months later, he was killed in a freak hideous accident (this last February) while on a ski bus tour to Jasper.

| Hi,Wandering.I am not presently in a relationship,but I'm glad that this book has given me some insight to my past failed relationships.There aren't too many,but I seem to have been making the same mistakes over and over again.I was so depressed for so long after the last one(the father of my sons),that I knew I had to do something.This book hit the spot.I am now happy to say that I am on the road to a new,conscience awareness life where I can turn those negative noises off and live in the NOW.You did a smart thing,girlfriend.Am sorry,however,that He died.Thank God you found it in you to forgive him before he passed.

| miranda - I am very thankful because I was able to repair and then develop a great friendship (my reaction actually woke him up to some of his own reactions -- then there was room for dialog about it afterwards).
And yes, it would have been VERY awful if he had died and I hadn't apologized and "made things right" between us. We just never know if we will get an opportunity to "fix" things before something unforseen happens. It's just better to recognize our own "stuff" from this point forward! (And before going into a relationship -- it has opened my eyes to a LOT... and I am someone that is generally "conscious" of my life -- and this book brought out further stuff!
We are "full of it" LOL!
You see a lot of that "stuff" flying around in these forums! People are being "triggered" nonstop and reactions are flying. They should make it a prerequisite to read that book before going into an online dating service!! ROFL Can you imagine how THAT would be?

hi nicholaspolke... yes, I did read "Power of Now" quite a few years ago actually. It's not easy living in the moment! Especially in the dating world. People are constantly futurizing each person they meet (meaning "already seeing how their lives will be when they "marry" this person -- thus closing their eyes to who they are)
Did you read A New Earth??

| Tonite is the next chapter (5?) of A NEW EARTH on the worldwide web event with Oprah.com.I usually watch with the rest of the world @ 9PM EST,but I re-watch the chapters whenever I want to refresh what I'm not sure about.I love it that we are all watching at the same time and being enlightened collectively.So Cool!

| The book THE POWER OF NOW has been on the shelves for a while,but I became aware of A NEW EARTH while watching Oprah and purchased it first.I then learned about the power of now and bought that one recently.I'm so greedy for his writing that I've developed adult ADD because I keep going back and forth with both books.
