I was with someone 10 years that I met online. She lived 1700 miles away.
It was magic for a long time...but even magic sometimes fades. We're still friends.

I've heard there has been success for some? You wouldn't know it by the threads though. And it depends on what your idea of success is, i think this site produces alot of e-mail "relationships" long distance phone stuff for the most part? Just my take on it, most seem to complain about NOT getting any quality people and then just b*tch and moan on the threads, pick fights with others, or like myself became addicted to watching all this drama in so many threads, shoot , and i think i've only really visited 4 forums out of all of these forums????? There's been enough entertainment on just 4, i kinda figured this type of thing wasn't for me, but what the hell, you just don't know who might pop in and could strike a match with? There's a few, but i won't do some long distance thing, nor am i into e-mails and phone calls if there isn't going to be a local reality hit, not for hit and miss by bus and plane, i want a match who lives within an hour of my local,, so i sit back and watch all this drama, this is a close second to all the reality shows i enjoy on MTV and VH1,,this does the trick when they have only re-runs on,,,,, so make it what you will, i've found it at least entertaining, until someone local, who's profile has to be just so so, and we hit it off comes in,,,,,, Here's to cheap entertainment?

A mate of mine is married to a girl he met online at a dating site. They have a kid and seem perfectly happy. It seems in their case they were able to screen for a good personal match.

It does appear to me however, the majority of people online aren't going to be suited to each other just like in real life. Younger people especially aren't necessarily all that honest with themselves or others when devising profiles or making contacts, which compounds the issue. Conversely older people have been unable to find workable relationships within their normal lifestyles and there may be good reasons for that.

So I guess we're all online looking for amazing exceptions which just don't come along every day, and are a scam if they do. Online activity has also become a money making exercise, so one must remain aware of that too.

Oldeschool and I have been dating and we met here on DH. He was relocated shortly after
meeting, but we are continuing. I miss him dearly and can only wish, but I rather hold on
than let go of something that is near and dear to my heart.

It takes a lot of patience and a positivie attitude is mandatory.

Sorry no luck here. Went on two dates from the internet and both wasn't even close to what they said. One picture was of her from 20 years earlier and the other wasn't even her picture. What a trip. And they say men are liars. Will the real good women please stand up?
