| Been there and I'd rather not again but sometimes that's just how it goes. Especially where I live...options are few right here so I have to venture out further.

| I would generally say that long distance relationships do not work and not to bother with it, however, things change.
Two weeks of dating Oldeschool, he was transferred out of state. We both weighed the pros and cons and gave each other the option to say our goodbyes with no hard feelings. It actually turned out as a no brainer for both of us because what we developed in such a short time is indescribable and very rare to come by.
So....my suggestion is that I personally will not start a relationship that is of distance but if you are seperated after dating then that is a whole new ball game.
With a long distance relationship, there is always that nagging question in the back of your head called trust.
Oldeschool is the only man I have come across in ages where trust is not an issue. Usually it takes me years to trust a man. We both want the same thing in life, we both know the consequences of betrayal and how it devistates your partner and we both know what we have is very rare to find. We have trust and a lot of respect for one another and that is a necessity with a long distance relationship or with any relationship.

| I think it can be difficult, but then so can living too close!
I also think if you both believe you are the one and only,
you will just accept that that is how it is. I haven't done
it for long, when I moved - it got expensive to drive the distance; another time, I dated a long distance
trucker who only came to town every 3-4 weeks.
I had a busy life, and that was fine for me. I just made sure
I was available when he was.

| Yes and no, depends how invested the both of you are into the relationship and how much discipline and self restraint you exercise if you or the other person is tempted.

| no I would say don't even bother wasting your time if you want a relationship that will lead into something more....you either end up breaking up or it's friends with benefits which is not bad if that is what you are looking for....my 2 cents
Wait define long distance first? 35 miles or 350 miles?

| There are no guarantees, short or long distance. The only thing we have is how much we love and hope for the best.

| I meant when you find someone you have a strong connection with, is there hope to even consider having a relationship with?
More like, is it worth the effort?
Is it realistic ?

Your heart is the only one that can answer that and you have to be practical. I would only have a long distance relationship with someone of whom I had some knowledge of their character. It helps if someone can give you a resume of them that lives where they do. I definetely wouldn't start one with a complete stranger.

| I live in that thar big city setting and still tis hard to find and meet "My Definition of a good Lady" Yup there are lots of ladies here abouts, and I do get out there and meet many and have several social circles. So quantity isn't the problem. Quality hasn't been found here abouts though!
That said, I have conducted LD Relationships and you must be willing to be very understanding, trusting, and there for the other. You have to be ready to spend special occassions for each other without them, wishing they could be next to you at your special events. So it's extremely hard. But if you can do these things and many more while sharing the bad and goods over the phone.... GO FOR IT!!!
If you can't FORGET IT!!! Just a bit of insight for you to consider!!

| Realistically speaking, it s doable.
Here's the problem, eventually one of you will have to relocate. If you are willing to do that, then by all means go for it. Not many people can drop their lives, friends, family, jobs, homes and whatever just to make a LDR work.
Best bet is to search locally! There's got to be suitors in Portland.
