| OK. Let's say you have met someone from this site, have done the usual things like meet for coffee one afternoon, went to dinner and dancing one night, a movie, ... the normal stuff; and it appears it's time to take it up a notch. Bravely you both agree that dinner should be at one or the other's house.
Knowing that the pleasures of rich dinning are the gateway to passion, you have the opportunity to show off your prowess in the culinary arts.
What would your dinner be? ... from soup to nuts! Not so much recipes but rather an elegant descriptive narrative of your meal's courses.
Here's mine
All courses are served individually with enough time in between to savor the flavors just experienced.
Hors d'oeuvre:
Sliced Portabella mushrooms; sautéed in lamb cracklings and butter and simmered in dark lamb and garlic broth and sherry wine . Served on Romain lettuce marinated in Balsamic vinegar sprinkled with Romano cheese and thin slivers of rare lamb; drizzled with dark brown lamb and garlic sauce and melted butter. Demi-glass of Del Duque amontillado sherry.
Soup:
Beef onion soup made from domestic sweet white onions and hand picked wild garlic or chives, fresh ground black pepper and a hint of Rosemary; topped with oregano toasted garlic bread and melted Parmesan and Romano cheese with a hint of sharp Chedder.
Salad:
Fresh Plumb Tomato wedges with thin sliced zucchini squash marinated in Balsamic vinegar and olive oil; sprinkled with parsley and chives; ground fresh black peper and sea salt. Glass of Morgan, Monterey Chardonnay
Entree:
Brazed and grill broiled lamb chops (M-rare) drizzled with a sweet chutney and mint sauce. Glass of Greg Norman Estates, Limestone Coast Shiraz (2005)
Alternate:
Blackened, grilled grouper (dorsal fillet) stuffed with a blue crab back fin meat and Romano cheese mixture drizzled with a heavy cream, broiled garlic, and ground fresh black pepper and Paprika. Glass of Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio(2006)
Twice baked garlic potatoes with a sprinkling of cheddar, lamb cracklings, and chives.
On Plat de Fromage:
Mixed wedges of various sweet and sharp cheeses, course and spongy crocery baked bread and honey butter. Glass of what ever wine chosen for main course.
Desert:
Dark cherries sautéed in lemon syrup and flambayed in peach brandy, served on double fudge brownie cake; drizzled with hot, semi sweet, dark chocolate sauce and sprinkled with lemon zest and crushed mint. Demitasse double brewed Turkish coffee. Glass of Felsina Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia (2004) (A "dusty" dry red chianti)
After-math:
Candle light, a tender kiss (or two) with the taste of cherries and chocolate lingering on the lips and relaxing in the warmth of your new lover's embrace and conversation!
Oh my gosh! I'm ankle deep in drool! I need to go get something to eat. Peanut Butter and Jelly anyone?

| Your meal sounds delightful, Me I am just a simple girl and do mostly farm style cooking...Meat and potatoes...type thing so that would probably set the stage I would not wish to give the impression that I was a lot more sophisticated than I am...already too much disappointment in this world... but your meal sounds GREAT bets

| wachterpower; When I have someone to cook for and a pantry well stocked ... you'd be surprised!
Of course no one expects this kind of performance all the time. A "first home dinner" is a special thing full of excitement and nervousness. A meal like this is an all out assault on the senses that would be a wonderful and romantic thing to experience between new friends, don't you think? ... but notice, my profile picture is me in the galley. I didn't just walk there to have my picture taken!!!!!
Do not guzzle the wines. Use them to clear and freshen the palette. Pour only 1/4 glass at a time and mearly wet the lips with it as you eat.
"on plat de fromage" = "a plate of cheese"
"Aftermath: Pat your bellies and go snuggle on the couch and watch a movie!!! This is Missouri style !!!!! "
Same thing!
