| I have not had a coffee since I was 20 or so as they tend to have the disturbing habit of keeping me awake for days on end with but a single cup. I have had a rather hellish day today and after freezing my butt off to help rid an elderly neighbour's walkway of ice. I tried wrapping myself in a warm blanket, taking a hot bath, and cranking the heat in my home, all to no avail. My feet are numb and my hands are stiff and frigid, so I am a little more than perturbed. i spoke to a close friend who has serious nerve damage from work that prevents his extremities from maintaining heat and he relayed to me that virtually every doctor has told him to drink coffe to dilate his blood vessels and allow the flow to increase. I hesitantly decided to have a few cups of coffee, and now my vision is blurred, mildly double visioned, with ghost-like imagery like a bad acid trip from the 80's with the strobes and fades present. My heart is pounding like a drum and my hands are shaking like a leaf in the boughs of a storm ridden tree. At first I thought that I was warming up but this seems to be a delusion as well as my fingers and toes are still numb and swollen (mildly mind you, but the skin is rigid and stiff). I do not have any medical issues and passed my last physical with flying colours, in fact the doctor told me I have the body of a 20 year old (the poor 20 year old that has my 40 year old one must be pissed though). My chest feels tight and my stomach has the slight remembrance of mushrooms or some other mild hallucinogen. I have not done any drugs including aspirin for many many years and the ones I did do were when I was much younger. So what the hell is happening, cause it is all I can do to keep my brain from racing clear out of my skull...

| Drink it from the time I get up til about 4pm....more then that and I don't sleep at night. Mark, sounds like you have a caffeine allergy or something. Next time try weaker coffee, and maybe just 1 or 2 cups.

| I drink about a quart of coffee a day. I can have a cup of strong coffee just before bed and sleep like a log!
You are suffering from a caffeine overdose. If you haven't had coffee in 20 years, then drink a couple of cups.....BINGO! Caffeine overdose. It's not harmful, just a pain in the butt. Drink lots of water and flush your system out.
