| Well, I'm new to the Georgia state, but southern belle all the way.
Our blood is still the same color, no matter if your green, white, black, brown, purple.
Everyone has their preference of who they would like to be with, I have a preference, but its not about color.
but then again, I'm a newbie here so what does my 5 cents count for anything. Welcome mreyes1!
Everyone has a right to their own opinion.
We are all individuals with our individual thoughts and opinions.
It is the bigger individuals that show respect for others as simply another individual.
We all have only one judge and he no longer walks on this earth.
Yes, your 5 cents count.

| OK, here goes: I am a white male. I grew up in times where Atlanta and most of the larger cities in the south became a center of attention. It is part of history. It does bother me that there are those that immediately label different cultures as racist. There is only a difference of opinions on both sides. My question is why do we have to have labels and "sides". Who started the "white race" "black race" "yellow race" "brown race"? I have my theories on that, but my question is what are we "racing" to and what are we "racing" for? My school became "integrated" (a government term) with "forced" busing from "M to M" (minority to majority) areas. My great grandfather (WW-I) told me stories of how the military was integrated. He used a very good word for the differences. The word is "culture". Ask some of the vets returning from the middle east about culture differences. Today, if you meet someone from New England, they have a different culture than those from rural Georgia. How many folks make fun of Jed Clampet from the Beverly Hillbillies, or Barney Fife from Andy of Mayberry, or even Jackie Gleason portraying a city bus driver in The Honeymooners? Yes, it's all about culture. Another word comes to mind. It is called "seperatist". This is where each individual chooses to be with those of like mind and culture. Another term is physical attraction. If you are gay you are attracted to some physical feature of another. Some people want to be with white, black, maybe oriental or hispanic; redbone, redneck, freckled, nordic, shiney, homely, classic, roman, gothic, radical, etc. All terms for physical features. But what is inside? What is in ones heart? How sincere are they? Through my 50+ years what I see are those individuals who choose to cross the culture line are those that are willing to take the chance to embrace the others culture. Some will make the transition, others will run back to the culture that they grew up in for the safety and comfort of being with one's own kind. Not all whites are redneck or racist, not all blacks smell and eat chitlins, not all orientals know karate and eat fish heads. Yes, we are all different. I have my preferences, and I am sure you have yours. But, who are we to judge another persons preferences or how they should live their lives. True, my parents would not approve is I brought home a homo-sexual black jewish dominatrix that was a gold digger and drove a Ford Pinto with a sombrero hanging from the rear view mirror and worked as a Mariachi on Friday nights at the local Tex-Mex restaurant, and I am sure we would have words about it (quit laffing)but it is my life and I would reap what I sow. My only advice to those of you that took time to read is, is...regardless of who you are... if you bring offspring into this world, consider what type of lifestyle they will have. They will mirror the life that you lead, and through your example they will embrace the culture that you submerge them in. The habits they form, the behavior that they learn and ways of looking at things will be formed by you, the parent. If they are raised in violence, they can look forward to living in violence. We all hear about the young successful person that "pulled himself up by the bootstraps" and "escaped" the ghetto, or the inner city or the gang. These are not all black things or white things. This goes on WORLD WIDE. I have been there. I have seen the bad side of London, Cairo, Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, and yes... Atlanta, Macon, Augusta, Valdosta, Columbus, Cartersville, Athens, Albany and many others.
OK, the rent on my soapbox is up, just be true to yourselves inside. If you can live with it, so can I. May God bless us all.
