| When going on a date is there a certain way a girl should dress? Depending on what you wear on that first date does the guy atomatically make assumptions of who you are based on your clothes alone?

| it depends on what type of date you are going on. I mean you wouldn't wear dressy clothes to a beach or anything like that.
I have a question... How flippin long does it take for a new profile picture to get approvced !!

| To each is own......the way I feel about your response is that if your comfortable with the way you look work it. Just what works for you doesn't work for me Im more the jeans an Tshirt type or dress pants and a nice top with heels thrown on I guess casual look.

| there is nnothing wrong with that you are a very beautifull lady im just stating guys will judge us on how we dress if we were standing next to each other ne guy looking to get laid and thats it would hit on me because the way i would be dressed. As any guy lookinbg for lady for commitment would hit on you for the way u would be dressed

| I get what your sayn its just I've been judged by the way I dress before and the opinion they give about me is way off......I don't get it.......Im not a prude or anything just more on the professional side I've always represented myself as a lady that's just who I am. I don't judge anyone based on what they wear just don't get what the men expect you know......from the way a girl is dressed its like they don't even see who you are aside from your clothes.....my point is my clothes don't make me who I am I do.

| Well I guess if your first date is to a ball game then you would wear jeans. Hell I'd probably wear jeans anyway so they better not take me to some fancy restaurant.............

| People are all around you...
you only get one chance to make a FIRST IMPRESSION....
are you *fitting in with the other people*, or look out of place?
Do guys say, you *look easy*?
Dress for the occasion
New Year's Eve is much different than 4th of July..
both can have lots of skin...but different.
I love to have shoes for the activity also.
Heels, to flip's. I love jeweled sandles with shorter heels...
this is the year to get more jeweled shoes! So many to choose from.
They can dress up a pair of jeans, or a sun dress...and sexy higher ones
with a black dress...
Accessories can help too...a great belt, earings, bracelets...
I love to have a great purse..
metallic ones are go anywhere, and with
anything now.
So many fun clothes..

| well a guy showed up to a date in ripped faded blue jeans and a faded flannel sweatshirt that looked like he dug it out of his dorm room closet...i wasn't impressed. First impressions do mean a lot but we do have a right to feel comfortable too...im not expecting a suit and tie unless he is taking me to "The Marriage of Figaro" or something along those lines....I have a tendency to dress up really nice on the first date and as the relationship progresses, i have a tendency to dress more provocatively in hopes that he will get a hint that i will want some nooky soon.

| I would hope that people who prepare for a date find out all the crucial information first, like; where we're going, what we'll be doing. Like Yarnball said, you're not going to wear a pair of Angiolini sling-backs if you're going jet-skiing in Daytona. Once that has been established, it is only a matter wearing something that is appropriate for the event, and complimentary and respectful to your own character.
To the question itself: Know at all times that dogs are always among you. They don't need your clothes to help them form an opinion; they've done it long before you started tearing up your closet looking for something to wear. The only measure against this is to think of how you want to be treated, use decorum, and dress accordingly.
I do not see the assumption restricted to clothing alone; I think a person's expectations, or hype before the date takes place has much to do with it also. Your clothes will either intensify the expectancy, or neutralise it. Either way, look to see if his interest in you grows based on how you interact with each other on the date; if you sense a misconception at the start, take the lead in conversation and see if he is either in tandem, or just "following along". That will help you determine where his focus is.

| I saw a girl once dressed in a white dress, and red heals going to a dirt track race. Most definatly trying to impress her guy, but was not the typical jeans and t-shirt type person. Everyone was looking, laughing and calling her "Miss Priss"...
I felt sorry for her, cause she didn't have a clue, and probably the first race she had ever been to.
So ya.... People do make assumptions....

I dig what you're saying, I've read your posts and your profile, but "sluttish"???? Regardless of your independent spirit, or lack of concern in what others think about you, the word is harsh. If I were to use this word in association with your character, it would be cruel as well as demeaning; you would rightly be offended, so please...don't refer to yourself with this, or any word that speaks against women.
