On August,19 2004 I recieved a double lung transplant that nearly killed me but now has saved me. My story is quit spectacular if interested or have questions please feel free to ask anything..I really would like to get information out about being an organ donor it does save lives and it does make a big difference not only in the lives it saves but the people who love them. Thank You

| Ping I had a disease known as Pulmonary Fibrosis. What happens is cyst would form on my lungs and they would then pop and scar over. The scar tissue would then clog my aveili or air sacs and cause me not to breath. I was then on oxygen for a long time, until I received my transplant.

| Howdy and welcome to DH.
I hear you...I personally don't have any transplants...but I've signed the back of my DL and I'm ready to give. I've told all my family of my wishes to donate as well. Guess time will tell if anyone listened to me. The way I look at it....I don't need any of it anymore to live...let someone who can still have a life....have the chance at as normal a one they can. Don't know with all my past and lifestyles how much is good. But if it is....and someone out there needs any....they will be luck to have whatever is good and in my book....welcome to have. If someone gets my heart...they need to be fore warned...it is as BIG AS TEXAS. Tons of love to give...that's what I mean by that.
Wish you all the best...and happy hunting...and Good Luck.

| God Bless and glad you're here. I am an organ donor, I do have the sticker on my license and also it states in my will that my organs are to be donated. I think it is the right thing to do because who knows? my organ donation may save the life of someone who otherwise wouldn't have a chance to live out their life.

| I'm figurin' I'm not going to be using them anymore, so have at 'em! If one of the nice people here had my heart, wouldn't it be greatif my sons could hear it beating in someone else? Not always possible, but if I had somebody's, I think I would want to let them know who I was, provided they wanted to know. It would be a tough deal in some ways, too. I perswonally would want to present the opportunity from either side of the fence.

| Very cool post, I agree. Organ donation saved my aunts life too. I plan to be an organ donor, and I try to donate blood regularly throughout the year. A friend in high school needed a blood transfusion and we were compatible. God is good and miracles DO happen through the medical field. THanks for sharing your story with us.
