Yeah.... I had a guy from florida... who lived off the coast.... talked with him a few times by phone.... asked me to marry him.... to come live with him... had his own home, and business.... I wouldn't have to work..... just in the house and garden.... seemed too damn perfect..... He offered me plane fair... to come see him for a three day week end.... so we could get to know each other.... Until I said.... if you live off the coast, why don't you have a women? If he was all that he says he was.... why did he want to rush me.... Just started a job couldn't go.... he went off line......... Oh well.... seemed like a nice guy......

So what is a datehookup scam.... is it like a bad April Fools joke? I don't know.... I feel pretty secure in my little computer room.... I don't go out with shadows... I don't fall for shallow promises.... I now chat with someone on line and on the phone for a while.... so I have time to evaluate their intentions....... and yes some are just no good.
Again what are some of the scams.... cause I am three month young to this sight.... and I haven't been on any other.

I'll quote a Shideoshi I read a bit about (a Japanese cross between a martial arts instructor and philosopher), "The most effective form of self defence is invulnerability."

Scammers aren't so much an issue, don't be scammed. Essentially if you relate to new people in a logical fashion and listen to what you notice about them, their story falls apart quickly.
It's people who realise they are being scammed and try to play with fire anyway, who get burned. They tell themselves things like, "Oh I'll rely upon good nature." Well, that is what scammers rely upon about you.

You're on the internet, you're not lying in a ditch after a car accident and unable to prevent some onlooker from taking your wallet. Be conscious of yourself.

[insert photo of beautiful young woman wearing a cardigan and fawn pants]
"Hi, my name is Svetlana. I borrowed my friend's profile so that I could speak to you. I know it says I live locally but I actually am in Russia. But I am coming to [insert your city] soon and I do not know anybody there already."

So you came on a internet dating website looking for somebody because you are going to that country...

-two days pass-

"I like you very much. I know that you are a nice man and I have already developed strong feelings for you. This is why I feel I can ask this. I have travelled to Moscow to make final arrangements for my coming to see you but it seems [insert totally ridiculous reason here] and I require a thousand dollars or else I cannot come to see you and I will have to travel all the way back to [insert name of tiny rural village in Siberia here]. Oh please I want to come and see you so much and I will pay back the money as soon as I find a job there. Here are my details: [insert bank transfer details, account numbers and branch detials here]."

Oh, this is a scam.

obvious

Had a guy on another site really sucking up to me for the last 4-5 nights on IM. He was telling me such far fetched bullsh*t, even a kindergardener wouldn't believe. Got his name & address. (That's how stupid he was) Looked in the phone book, called the #. WOW!!!! it was a miracle......his dead wife answered the phone! He was out of town. Left my name and a phone #. Oh noooo, not my real phone number. The phone number for the state police. Let him hang up on it or even call it and they'll be at his house in no time. Then when I called him on the carpet about it he was all pissed. Gee, go figure....maybe cuz I busted him?

Dear maggie, they will say " me so horny, u numba one make you numba
one husband me maka u laff ha ha ha "
Or there are some lonely not to good looking people whose alter ego's
think they are god's gift [ only on the internet ] who can fantasize
and go to sleep with a smile on their face [ pitiful ] no pic but claim they
are beautiful or extremely handsome just to see how many e-mail's they can get.
It's a strange world out there maggie.
