| | 1. I love roadtrips. | | 2. I love roadtrips that take the back roads. | | 3. I only take the direct route even if it is a tollway. | | 4. I stop on the back roads when there is an interesting site. | | 5. I like to picnic along the way (weather permitting). | | 6. I stop at interesting joints. |
I love to take road trips and just returned for a backroad trip. I signed on and thought I would see how a poll works. This is the subject matter that is interesting to me at the moment.
I am wondering how this works ... Oh well, I guess I will learn the hard way ... LOL

| Used to be in such a hurry to get to the destination that I missed out on so much in between........Now that I'm retired, I love checking out the little shops, traveling the back roads, meeting the locals and enjoying what each place has to offer. Of course SPRING makes it all so beautiful right now. Hmmmm! Need to take a trip!!!

| I like to stay off the big highway as much as I can. I spent a lot of highway miles staring at the radiator of idiot 18 wheelers in my rear-view mirror. They seem to have different rules for them.

| I meander along and drive everyone crazy stopping at garages sales, second hand stores, interesting tourist spots and what ever meets my fancy.
Never take the interstate unless the back roads are way off course or too hard to drive. Here in MT we have a few that it is better to take the interstate and get there.

| I am so glad that I am getting responses from people like myself who love the back roads. More?
lotsofun and lililou, I would love to take a road trip with you. Stopping for garage sales and interesting shoppes and sites have given me some of my best memories on trips ... I found the Laundry Room Restaurant south of Fairhope, AL and GREAT FOOD several years ago and I found Ackles Farm Market in western Illinois and I found ruins in mid Missouri that is covered with Dogwood trees and I found a peat bog in Ireland ... LOL . I do love the back roads.
Ozark hiker, I have recently returned from a trip to see my brother in east and south of Columbia, Missouri and we had to be there quickly so I used 55 and 70 (nightmare) and saw those radiators you were talking about ...

| Shnpker, you changed your pic ... I like this and the first one. I just knew you would like the back roads.
Rof, I understand that the East coast is so full that there are few backroads to meander; is that true?
Vitamin, if you are traveling, where are you going with that RV?

| I never get tired of road trips, I love to get off the main roads just to see what is on the other side of a hill. I don't always like to get off the paved roads when I am driving one of my classic cars, but when I am driving my jeep that is a different story. We have so many ghost towns here in Montana, and they are fun to visit. Will soon be leaving for a road trip on Route 66
