| or lack thereof. It's all too commonplace in today's society. Is it all that hard to accept others even though we are different?Isn't variety the spice of life?I think we all bring a little something to the table and although we don't eat it,why scorn others that do?There will always be clashing personalities.......likes and dislikes, morals and values, etc, that's part of life.Even though we don't embrace them all,why not let others do so as they wish?It saddens me to think how many get wrapped up in the faults of others that they fail to ever look in the mirror and see what needs improving.Something they actually have control over.Respect one's self and respect will come.It is not something i give lightly. It is earned.
Respect :
you can like someone yet not respect them
you can respect someone and not like them.
the world's leaders, from ceo's to generals and dictators always show respect for their adversaries, like them or not.
that's why they're leaders.
dignity,honor and respect....i'm leaving here with mine....someday

| Repect is not given ... it is earned. I've been in situations where I've respected someone and in return they treated me like crap so I learned the hard way. Respect for a few is a word in the dictionary. Once I've realized that they think the world revolves around them is when I need to stop the world and let me off ... not enough room for the two of us.

| Nicely put Wileyguy.
You'd think over time - I'm referring to history, we would have learned by now to embrace "diversity".
We've gone through enough wars from this nation's birth through the present to understand there is more power in acceptance.
We all become better people by it.
Dignity, honor, respect -- just look in the mirror sir; I believe you carry it with you every day.

| The way I have been treated being disliked and all, looks like i will be leaving here someday as "you can respect someone and not like them" I do get that about oh 40 percent of the time, but once they see the real me, the results change real quick...hiya wiley, nice thread you got going friend...

| Your post was very moving as i have very similar views on that subject...I think more people should open their minds and hearts and accept people for what they represent as a whole....the true shall shine through!!!
