I'm one of those people who is true to my word. I always do what I say I will do unless there is some sort of emergency. Even in the case of an emergency, if at all possible, I'll call the person and let them know I had an emergency so they aren't left wondering what happened. Who else is true to their word these days? I've encountered some flakes who say they will call at a certain time or certain day and don't follow through. (And based on my experiences, it isn't a lack of interest, its simply flakiness). I'm not perfect, so I don't expect anyone else to be, but when it happens more than once or twice, do you begin thinking that person is a flake?

 Hello, ME, if I were any more True I'd need my wings clipped instead of a haircut. I may come across as being a bit of a Flake, but thats just my way of dealing with day to day stuff. When I tell someone I will do something I do it, and on time too

I try to stay true to my word, unless illness, emergency, or death renders it impossible. Where I can, I inform if I am unable to meet my stated obligations.

I once didn't call a DHer with whom I had been corresponding (and had one, and only, date) when I said I would: she had posted somethings that left me wondering how to address them, and I had no idea what to say.

Thanks for the responses. Now, I'm curious if many of the "younger generation" (20s) consider themselves to be true to their word.

I am always true to my word. I can't stand liars. There are times it is hard though as you never want to hurt people, but sometimes you have to.
