|  I like a guy that is 30 but i am only 18... i don't know what to do... I asked my parents how old too old was for me and they wouldn't answer me... is this man too old for me or is it still okay? i need help please....

| if the person you feel you like is old enough to be your parent, it's a little weird. If the person you feel you like is young enough to be your kid, same thing. If you have a genuine connection, and are not so far apart in age, that you both couldn't have considerable amounts of things to do together, and have enough life and energy to spend with making memories with possible children, then go for it.

| I've dated younger men than me so age is not a preference. The maturity of the man is. Most have an age range of 10 +/- of their own age. I have to live my own life and how I deal with things I have to face whatever consequences it brings me. I think if you are questioning it then maybe you shouldn't. Doubts mean that your intuition is telling you not to go through with it.

| I am also 18 and I don't date guys younger than me only older. The oldest guy I talked to was 42.. He was a lot older than me but he was a nice guy... Now I am talking to a 32 year old guy who is really great, and I have seen a couple where the girl was 21 and the guy was 62 so if it makes you happy then who cares what others think.

| I guess it all depends on what you have in common, theres a huge difference in where people are in their lives between 18 and 30 ... if there isnt it might be a red flag ... i certainly think age is just a number but it does seem to be quite the gap.

doubts are fears too. and it is no wonder she has some. because she has probably like most of us heard the usual put-downs by uninformed and interested others.
so her doubts may be due to how society may reject her or think unkind of her or him by the age difference.
what the thread originator is really asking is...."will you accept me and my prospective other in society though there do be an age difference..?"
let me further this.
create a list of values which you share or do not share.
discover what is the purpose in each of you together and/or separately.
also. age is relevant to maturity by social experiences.
so clearly you will wish to know how he has matured given what are obvious and less obvious social conditions for his mind/personality to understand.
begin there...

| I'd recommend you go with people your own age. Someone 12 years ahead of you in life is probably from a different era. You should be pursuing things kids your age pursue .. he should be doing the same. A lot of life might be still new and exciting for you, but he might be past all that already. I think the situation is aggravated because your a woman and he's a man.. I think that's a mistake in the wrong direction. If women live 10 years longer than men.. your gonna be alone 20 years at the end of your life. I also think life is all about making a boatload of mistakes.. well, he's made 12 years more mistakes than you have. How patient is he gonna be while you catch up? Then there's energy levels, i'm not sure a 12 year difference, the people will be on the same level. I just think it's hard to be on the same page in life, when there is a huge age difference. In the end tho the decision is yours, just keep in mind your the one that will live with the mistake if it is one. Your the one that will feel the pain. You will get to watch him grow old, you will get to watch him die. He's 30 already before his kids are born, he probably wont be around to see his grandkids.

| Normaly I would say go for it age is just a number, but I think you answered it for yourself. If you have to ask your parents or all of us then I would say you know it is not right for you right now. I would say put it on hold until you are shure this is what YOU want.

| its not so much about age as it is morrals n be carefull he has alot of time to learn how to take advantage of younger alot younger women but you should just tell him and ask your parents opinion of him you sound close to them and their judgement is ussually pretty good

| For me, the younger guys are better, but not much more than seven years. When you are 18, that is a different story.
If you are not married, then you are still single. Why limit yourself to seeing just one person?
