I have been seeing this guy for a few months now... about three... We were being exclusive and he finally droped that dreaded L word.. I thought about it a lot and I like him as a friend but never see it progressing into a long term relationship .... Should I make it quick and easy and just say I want to date other people, or should I try to explain why I just want to be friends?

i want to have closure, I want to know why and I would hope he would want to know why...after all how the hell can we ever learn and improve ourselves if we cant be honest with one another...so gentle but honest and a willingness to take a few and talk thru it with NO drama thank you...no drama just be cool.

Oh, there's that "F" word that every young guy just needs to hear.

One shot, one kill. Get it over quick, don't make him suffer.

Just make sure that is really what you want before you do that.

well if you build friendship first and build romance on that no one usually gets hurt, at least thats been my postive experiences, it seems when it hiyts like a whirlwind and ya act on attraction instead of taking a couple months before you go for it yep that always turns out bad but strong respect thru freindshipand going slow...always a postive breakup after all then you do really love the other and they you and you do want happiness for them....like I said at least that has been my experience when i have had to break up with a guy.

The fast break-up to me is the gentle one!!!

The long drawn out break-ups are NOT Gentle. They cause both parties much pain and total anguish. Be honest with both yourself and your significant other, it will allow for ease of both your minds and cause less pain on both parts. JMO

The best thing would be to totally destroy his image of you.. try to make him realize he doesn't even know you after all. Make him realize he was a fool to love you. I think since you crossed that friendship line.. or at least he did.. that there is not much chance of him being happy trying to go back across the line. If your friends with him, he'll probably keep on hoping. If it was me.. i'd hope you would totally destroy anything between us.. get it over with.. minimize my loss. set me free. This would mean no friendship, no future .. etc.. You might feel like your screwing me.. but i think you would be doing me a favor. tearing out the heart thing in my last post was all figurative.. but i was serious.
