Since you come from the bastion of conservative CA, you should layer yourself. My suggestion is that your create an e-mail on [blocked] . . . . say OCBabe@[blocked] . . . you can e-mail, IM there and when the time is right you can call him (don't give out your number at first).
Then, after a while you can let him call you.
Be patient, safe, and vigilent. I say this because I know. We had a young lady XXXXd in Peeskill by her somewhat wacked X this weekend.
There are a few gentlemen but even the nicest ladies here exercise caution in communicating with me.

| After you E mail long enough to see that the person is consistent and stable.
You have a good tool here. Go back and read the previous post by the individual. This can help you make your decision.
As for meeting, if he's local just go on a meet instead of a date. Bring a friend, meet to see if there is mutual interest. A coffee shop is good place to meet.

| unless you want the hastle of changing your number my suggestion would be #1 chat here #2 email #3 meet in a public place (if close enough) #4 phone number If not nearby then reverse the last 2 You could also sign up to yahoo messenger (if not already) chat faster than email

Use common sense and be careful...........cell #'s only, no home phone numbers!

I expect you to mask your number, then if you're comfortable with my weird-assed sense of humor and are 100% confident that I'm not certifiably committable then you could give me your number. I have free long distance and I always ask for permission to call.
Yea it's clunky but so is online dating.

| I'm very slow to give my number out, as I have learned some really valuable lessons about making a mistake too rapidly in that regard. Even now after 4 months on DH VERY FEW people have my number and can contact me by phone.

| Cherry, when I first got on here a lady gave me her phone number after about 2 emails, than suddenly - "got busy" That is way to soon. I would say after about 10 or more emails then phone calls and finally meeting...It all depends on how you "mesh" on the emails. BUT emails stink because you can't see the body language...however that is all we have here.
