My nephew was so excited when he shot his first deer he wet his pants! Equally psyched when he got his first turkey, his first bass, his first walleye and his first cod when he went deep sea fishing. The excitement in his voice when he called me on the phone right after each time was priceless.

Lonesome...I agree with you on the childs face... I know what mine must have looked like when I shot my first rabbit at 8 years old....
It wasn't the fact that I killed it jsut to kill it... It was that I killed it for supper that night...
Hunting and killing once was a way of life. Face it! It wasn't just a sport, but done for a way of survival. And I truly think everyone needs to know how to do things like we used to do..
You never know when that knowledge will come in handy, and it may be your only way of surviving.....

deer hunting is more of a necessity....I'm an insurance agent...I see so many deer claims its pitiful. I can't imagine what it would be like if we didn't have hunting season.

yes copper, I was happy to see the excitement on my son's face when he killed his first buck. There's nothing different in seeing that kind of excitement than watching your son win an award for playing a sport.

gapeach "I like to get all camoed out (camo turns me on for some reason)"
LOL I like the blue kind, and yeah, sometimes those pants make guys' butts look kinda cute, if they fit right.
And I also understand the exploring the woods thing, I do that all the time. Just still don't get why anyone would shoot for "sport" yet.
And, sorry, but I killed two bunnies (jk, two pregnancy tests LOL)

copper ""The excitement on a child's face after his first kill"????"
Was slightly horrified by that one myself.

And I am still waiting for someone to explain to me why this is a "sport". What is the enjoyable part of killing for "sport"?

hunting is one of my passions, and it's cool you don't think it's right..but I am still gonna do it...as will my children...it's legal and I am harming noone....cept those pesky animals....

I've never killed anything just to "kill it". It has always ended up in the freezer and on the table. And with the cost of groceries going up again...be assured that I will be dressed in orange and walking with my brother in the fields again come November 24th.

wildgypsy,

Exactly...."the excitement on a child`s face after killing". These people are obviously not teaching their kids kind spirited acts of goodness, henceforth serial killers are a result.

Be thankful you are not angry and hateful as these cruel human beings are.
