| HUNTING has allways been around, there are good hunters and bad just like every other endevor.95% of hunters are ethecal people and play by the rules. only the bad once get noticed.just like everything else. Nature is cruel i have seen domestic dogs tear apart new born fawns.If you have guns in your home teach your children about them that way if they encounter one out side the home they will know what to do.Im a hunter i dont believe in sport hunting but do believe in hunting for food. slaughter houses are very cruel and the animals suffer alot. a good hunter kills with 1 shot he or she owes it to the animal to kill it with a good clean shot.Not all children will want to hunt but if its in the family they should be exposed to it I think 4 is too young i started at 8 yrs.i can look back to when i was young and my dad was still alive going hunting with him is some of my fondest memories,it didnt matter if we got any game just being out in the woods and him teaching me about trees and the direction of the wind and sitting under a beech tree waiting for a squeril that never showed was more important then actually shooting one DONT judge every hunter by the actions of a few ---------LUCAS

| I think extreme caution should be used and safety emphasized as paramount. I do think 4 is a little young, though.
True Story: My cousin was shot and killed during a hunting accident at the age of 11. My uncle (his father) and him walked about 2 miles to nearby woods to go hunting. They were not wearing safety vests. My uncle told my cousin to stay put while he ventured out a little ways. Of course, being a kid he also ventured out. My uncle saw movement in the bushes and only saw the brown of his hair and mistaken him for an animal. He shot my cousin in the neck. He carried him the 2 miles back to the house and called for an ambulance. He died before the ambulance arrived. Needless to say my uncle does not hunt anymore, and he is a missionary for his church now.

| This is all up to a parent's discretion. I personally wouldn't take my kids hunting at 4 but by the time they are 7-8 years old they will start learning to shoot if they want to just like I did. I think we all want to get our kids into our hobbies with us and we just introduce it whenever we feel it's right. I sat in my first Top Alcohol Dragster at the age of 2 and have not been able to be pulled away from the track since, some would say that was too young for me to be in such a loud environment at that age. Both of my kids went to the dragstrip for the first time at not quite a year old to the displeasure of my mother-in-law...you can only imagine my response to her when she threw her fit! Now they both have Nitro mixed with their blood which makes daddy a real happy man
My third will be the same way, he's due in a couple weeks and I'd be willing to bet he will see the race track before this season is over. My son got to go to his first Skynyrd concert last fall for his 4th. birthday...some would say that was not a good place to take someone that young! As long as you take the precautions with the little ones in whatever it is you are introducing them into then it's fine and who is to say it's wrong?

| to many kids today get thier gun teaching from vidoe games, in real life you have to realize the fee on your soul and mind to kill something, but theres not to many animalsout there that are easy to shoot with a bow or a gun
