For me it really is the thought that counts. I believe that when you give a red rose and that's it, not much thought went into it because it's the standard thing to do. Now if you buy me a purple rose (my favorite color) then more thought went into that because it's what I like.

I love flowers. But the best gift a man can give me doesn't cost a dime...all he has to give me is his heart.

A great 'small' gift for me is a text message or phone call after a first date saying they enjoyed meeting me and look forward to either a second date or even chatting again on line. Lets me know a good first impression was made and puts a smile on this girl's face.

PS...this is what I usually do

as long as the gift is small then its okay by me...flowers, card, a poem....jewelry, expensive clothes or cologne would freak me out. I would think that he would be trying to buy his way into my pants. I don't need THINGS, I already have everything that I want, all that is missing is a nice guy.

Dude, is that a serious question? Girls are small gift black holes. No small gift escapes that gravity! God Bless them for being that way, and not LARGE GIFT blackholes, (Heather Mills and Anna Nicole Cumbucket notwithstanding)

Small gift - something from a gumball machine or cracker jack box (nothing good in them any more though)
now that's a great gift!
