|  All my life I've dated big women.but there are guys who would love to, but are afraid because of the teasing from friends. people would say to me:why are you with her? you could do so much better.I would tell them: I think that big women are sexy.so to answer your question, guys are looking for the approval of their friends. they think that they will be admired for having a Barbi doll on their arm.

| doowopden: That was one of the most honest posts I have read about this subject.
OP, you answered your own question by stating that it isn't a perfect world.
I've been on just about every end of the spectrum: slender, muscular and now overweight. All I can say is that I didn't like the type of attention I got when I was slender or muscular; few guys EVER got past looking at my body to know that I have a brain. Among other things, it has always been important to me to have a man who can stimulate my brain first. There is no shortage of men who are attracted to confidence. I strive to be healthy by eating right and exercising at least 5 days a week; that makes me feel good about myself so I don't have to care about the ones who don't find me attractive. The right one(s) will be attracted to you for who you are. Who cares about the others? Best wishes to you!

| In all honesty...i'm attracted more to bigger women than to skinny ones...
reason 1. big girls are attractive in there own way...i like large breasts and large butts. unless some toothpick girl is paying for them she probably don't have em
2. bigger girls tend to be more sensitive and less superficial. they don't look like the girl in the magazine so they actually have to care about people to have a fighting chance unlike the magazine girls who have to beat the men off with a stick
3. bigger girls have softer features. i like that in a woman. toothpick women i think aren't as attractive because of the fact that there bones stick out...i'm sorry if i wanted to be with a skeleton i'd live in a graveyard.
JMO....everyone is entitled to there's and i'm sure i'm going to be knocked on this site for mine

| just to let you all know, i am happy with the way i am. i have been blessed with good health and im thankful for that. if i werent a bigger female i dont think that id have the friends that id have. im thankful for everything. i would never change myself for someone, id change for me. i have been losing weight. ive lost about 40lbs so far and i am continuing on that track of losing weight. i am not doing it for anyone, i am doing it for me so i can stay in good health. i have dated plenty of people who love big women, and granted i am single now but i am still cool with the people i have been with. i have plenty of love to give. and for the person that said i was fishing for some compliments, i am not doing that at all. im just getting outside perspectives. i am used to the opinions of those i know. outside perspectives are a good thing. so i do appreciate the replies ive gotten. i will continue to be happy in my own skin. i am happy with myself, and i am happy with the people that can appreciate me for who i am. i am new to the site, so i didnt really browse the forums to ese what kind of questions were asked. and i would date bigger people. almost everyone ive been with was on the bigger side. so thanks for all comments both good and bad. im just going to continue on being who i am and being happy with it.

| Bottom line?
I do not find overweight (or rather "overfat") women sufficiently attractive to see myself having sex with one. And, as much as I like to wait in that department, far more than most men, it is something that I eventually desire.
Do you want a sexless friendship? Fine. But you will not, er, arouse me, no matter how kind, gentle, and decent a person you are. I will not be able to caress "all" of you given the reach of my arms in the ways that I like to caress my partner.
Similarly, many, many women find that either my height (5'7") or worn teeth (but perfectly clean) make it impossible for them to see how we'd "fit" together, or how they'd even see themselves in a kiss with me. Used to bug me. A lot. Oh, woe is me. Boo hoo.
But, there have been those few that did find me attractive, and loved the way I kissed them, with tenderness, enthusiasm, and passion.
I learned to stop worrying about those that didn't desire me and start appreciating those that did.
Shallow? Maybe, but I think that's more the cry of someone not comfortable yet with the flaws of their own self-image. I will accept a lot of imperfections -- overfat but getting fit being one of them. But, even I have my limits.
Take heart though -- there have been women that, for whatever reason, were attracted to me, and there will be men who are attracted to you -- some have actually voiced that opinion here. Accepting who you are, as you appear to have, is the first step. It does not change you, or make you slender, but it does mean that there is no "self-esteem cloud" that hangs over your other attributes, some of which might enchant a future partner.

| It's not so much weight as body fat percentage.
I know a few guys that are 5'8" and 200 lbs.
Fat?
Hardly. Try "ripped" at 10% body fat and all muscle.

| History channel had a show on human sexuality. some scientist on that show said it's all about proportions. hip to waist ratio.. there is a "perfect ratio" that is attractive to men at any "weight" or size. That ratio, It broadcasts health. In fact within that given ratio.. i think bigger is better.
Also i know some guys that had to see a doctor to get waivers for the height/weight standard.. cus they were solid muscle. Back when the company i worked for started to discriminate against fat people.. whew some of the experience and knowledge we lost there.. i felt like it was a Stalinistic purge. I think float tests were more accurate, measuring displaced water volume. than height/weight or caliper tests.

| Height/Weight is least accurate.
3 point caliper tests are better, but 10 point caliper tests probably give the best "convenience and accuracy" bang for the buck: +/- 1-2% if done right.
Electronic fat measurement sucks, though it is useful to see if one is progressing in the right direction if measured at the same time of day every time and with the same hydration level.
Hydrostatic testing is quite accurate, but a PITA.

| I am not skinny by any means, never will be and never plan to be. I am healthy, i exercise and i eat right. I made this very clear to a guy that i have been talking to for a while...he insists that guys would rather be with women who have meat on their bones and the hollywood image is NOT what most men go for. I have never had any problems getting approached by men in the size that i am. Some guys do prefer very slender, Its all just preference. I prefer stong and beefy...there is nothing wrong with that.

| I don't get it either. All I know is that if I am at the bar the only thing that they look at is my you know. Men should give pleasently plump women a chance because we are not what you see on commercials looking all depressed and stuff. I am very outgoing and love to be around people and I don't let my weight interfere with my life. Like they always you should never judge a book by its cover.
