| I just got done reading, "How far is too far?" and I have a topic . First of all, I gotta tell you all...I love this 50's group. Woot~ Woot~
My topic is this...at what point of being in a long distance relationship have you waited long enough to meet the other person?
I am interested to see where this topic goes.

| When someone gets bored? or restless to keep looking?
Not sure. This is all new territory with new issues, like your question,
and what are the parameters of a 'only words' relationship, with
someone you haven't even met in person.
Didn't answer your question, did I!

| Hi LadyBug - nice to see you. I think we need to define "long distance", too...how far is that? Anything outside a certain radius of where you are? What's the radius? Is 100 miles considered LD? 200 miles? or ??

| When you have a safe place to meet, when you are not having to fly across the country, if you have felt good enough about this person to exchange emails and then phone numbers and after they have put in as much as you have to this meeting, time and money.

| Ladybug,
I would say it's time to meet if the trust is there and if you both feel there's a real shot of a relationship developing! It pretty much depends upon the people involved, also.

| Hi ladybug! Cute screen name! I like it!
Let's ask lotus and Ron after their weekend meeting!
(Bet it's a great one!)
Like sweetness said...the couple will eventually
get to that point where they can't or don't want to
wait any longer...and the timimg is right, they WILL
know! Lots of variables, but if the connection is
real strong, they will find a way...I am sure of it!

Oops...sorry if off topic...but sweetness, now I know who
you remind me of....Debbie Reynolds! I remember how you
like her movies...oops again...another thread!

| Cricket, I was unsure as to whether to make this "about me" or just general. Let's say that LD is any distance where it is not possible to date or spend time together...on a regular basis. In my personal situation the distance is 500 miles.
Thanx for responding .

| Oh, ok...thanks. Well, SomeWords and I live a 3 hour drive apart, which isn't toooo bad, but it's not like we can spend weekday evening's together, etc., but in the grand scheme of things (compared to many other's on here, etc.) I guess our's wouldn't be considred a LDR...but those weekdays sure do seem to pass REALLLL slowly . Best of luck to those who have REAL LDR's

| Why put a time limit on it? When both parties are ready to take the next step and it is feasible, they will decide to do so. No one else can make that decision for you.

| I also think that when it feels right and the trust is there it would be time to meet.
cricket - G and I are only 10 miles away from eachother and we have the same weekday problem - we work opposite shifts!!! So it can be hard no matter how far depending on the situation!!
Trust your instincts and go with what you feel is right!

| when you can't take it anymore and you want to meet, do so. then you will know if this is worth pursuing. and then make the move to make it permanant. truth is someone has to move, you can't do LDR forever. but it is true, you will do what you want to do or you find an excuse. i am willing to move as i can take my job with me whereever i go. not everyone has that luxury. if you are really serious about pursuing, do it before the time slips by and someone else who is closer to your potential mate makes a relationship easier.
