To Kill a Mockingbird, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and A Patch of Blue. I read them at school as part of our English classes and I was only 14 at the time but their similar themes of injustice affected me greatly.

The Seven habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. Not only did I read the book, but the company I worked for at the time invited them over to train the employees - Including myself for a whole week regarding the 7 habits.

books are more than - pracitcal use, kind of thing- they are way more, than that, the effect is universal and a long term change, makes you open minded, sensitive to the world around you, aware of the people around you,................ and it depends on how receptive you are,
in this category i would say many great books, including garcia marquez, 100 years of solitude, hemingway's, old man and the sea,

the other type of practical or HOW TO books, I LIKED napoleon hill's book think and grow rich, it didnt make me rich though, its just a fun book

A book called 'Paganism: An Introduction to Earth Centered Religions' by Joyce and River Higginbotham. This book inspired me to read about various forms of Pagan religions such as Earth Spirit Paganism and Wicca. My entire belief system changed.

I have to agree with njman - I can't pick just one book. My older sisters taught me to read when I was about 4 and I've been reading ever since. The accumulation of everything I have read has lead me to where I am today. (that may not be a good thing).

I read the bible and that led to my atheism. I read my father's Playboys and affirmed my heterosexuality. I've read Karl Marx & Ayn Rand, many of the Nobel Prize winners. Graham Greene, how could I possibly pick just one.

Johny the homicidal maniac. made me realize i'm a flusher, and that shit will continue to rain down on me, so i should throw as much of it back out into the world as i can, because no one is ever going to help me, and it will never get better.
