Truly it makes me feel very uncomfortable, but it has happened to me. I believe what I said was, yeah my friends tell me I'm a very lovable person, but it takes me a while to get to know someone, well enough to fall in love. The L word is not taken, or put out easily for me.

I take love very seriously, and wouldn't use it, or accept it casually. Like Grovel said, and some others indicated, it doesn't mean anything to some people.

If it is said to me and I know it isn't sincere, I just ignore it, and if it recurs, I will talk about it - help the other person (man) understand that if they think they feel that about me, it really isn't about me. It is either a desire to have it be so, or they need to think they are in love in order to be dating and/or intimate with someone, or they think it is something a woman wants to hear (stereotyping/generalizing).

That is one thing I can actually be a real B*tch about, because love is not something frivolous to me, and it turns me OFF, not ON when it's just another word!

So there!

I would definitely analyze what they said, and why they said it, then I would start asking them questions about why they love me, and what is it about me they love the most, then I would be in such a good mood, I would want to show them how much I love them, most definitely and surprise them with the best head job they ever had!!!!

It has been so long since i have said or heard those words that when I do i'll accept it with open arms if it's real. But I am so afraid of risking my heart right now that I tend to scare men off before they can hurt me.

If a guy said "I love you" and I hadn't known him very long it would make me very uncomfortable. I would feel like going on a very long run.........

I know this is Date Hookup,, and have learned what it means,,, Yet Love is not a word or a line,, It can be given,, and accepted or refused... It seems if the words Love you are said, it is only when two feel somewhat the same.. I feel love is really a two way street, it is given freely,, it is accepted with out much reservation.. If it is said too me, I don't say bullshit, or humbug,, I say I hope so or that's really all i ever wanted or needed. For one to say it, and the other to dismiss it, confirms that it is not in fact love,, it is infatuation, Love is given, Love is accepted, Love is returned, it can't be kept, it has ti be given,,, my 2 cents Steve

Guess would be as to how much i was into this relationship. If I was happy and wanted to be there , then very excepting and might even get me to break down and go for it also.

I'd discuss it ,right away, and I would tell them......
They say, now days the average relationship last 6months to a year. with that thought in mind I am almost afraid to start one -fear it would be over, and I was just getting started. Things have sure changed in the dating world . And I'm still trying to figure this out. but I have learned .... the first month or so we only show are best face. Also during this time I refuse to look at a man- all googley and starry eyed, thinking it is love, when I know it's just the heat.
Note to self.... discuss the "I love you" words, after a few dates , when the timing is right. To soon would scare him.But let him know they are words not to be played with.

I would say thank you and reinforce that I had strong feelings for her as well. I would not run because some people are better at expressing emotions than others. I would not question for that is extremely rude to respond to someone's emotional words with cynic. Not everyone feels the same at the same points of a relationship. JMO

I'm not going to say it unless I mean it...there's nothing worse than saying something that you don't mean.
