I went back and found the opening of the first Joe's Cafe, and wanted to bring it back as a tribute to Joe since he started it and is no longer here, please enjoy the new Joe's.

He and I actually met in the first Joe's Cafe, and our love began there. Anne

"Just openned the place and still needing a few things, Pull up a chair, a box or sit at the bar. Here have a fresh cup of coffee, Got the ham ,eggs and toast all most done. Sure is great to have Friends Like all of you

No coffee for me Cricket, and welcome! I am a sweet iced tea drinker 24/7, probably what keeps me going!

Just got a fresh supply of morning papers and a vase of roses for the ladies as they came in, it was a tradition with Joe

Mornin' DeeDee and Trish, don't forget to pick up a rose when you leave.

Of course I will need your help Cricket! I will be in here as much as I can in the mornings, but still have to go to work, and some days earlier than others.

It feels good to be back on DH again.....I am thankful to finally have heard what happened to Joe. I feel sad, but at the same time I have wonderful memories and know what our purpose in meeting was. So many of you have been supportive on here, and I think I can move on with life, I know that is what Joe would want.

Have a wonderful day all

Good Morning Anne, I'd like a cup of tea and I'll just sit over by the fire so I can hear all Joe's friends tell their stories of the times they shared with him. Can't think of a better way to spend a morning.

I never met your Joe, but I have read enough to understand the connection you two have and I think this place is a beautiful tribute to that.

That's a good idea Marie! I'll share one I saved from February, talking about relationships and learning to live together. He was typing it during one of our many phone conversations early in the morning and I was laughing so hard while he was writing I almost fell out of my chair!

"Adjusting to change - Joe's thoughts

Ok first of all hide all the castiron cookware and don't forget the rollin pins too. Ok now get you a good baseball bat. Now when she dislikes what you have done , just go ahead and whoop yourself upside your head , because if you love her, she is going to make you feel about 1 inch tall anyway. Now our new loves need to understand we cannot read your mind we are mere men , low on the chain. When ask if what there wearing looks good don't bust out laughing, look her in the eye and lie your a** off. Now make sure you make friends with the pet or pets they can help when she makes something that you can't eat, just make sure they are sitting in your lap at the table, If your good she'll never know, and honey that was so good. Make sure you have a place for your stash hidden welll for the things she will tell you not to eat, Chips, sweetroll etc.
Ok now for the toilet seat "Where in the hell did it ever say we need to put it down , just raise it" beside it's funny as hell when you hear them fall in"

Thanks Anne for bringing the love back to this site. You're such an amazing woman, with the heart of gold. Here's something I found in my saved notes.....it will give us something to think about, and you and Joe have presented this to all. I love you all.
Candi

I'm Glad Your In My Dash

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone,
From the beginning.......to the end.

He noted that first came her date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all,
Was the dash between those years.

(1951-2008)

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth.........
And now only those who loved her,
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own;
The cars.....the house.....the cash.....,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.....
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real,
And always try to understand,
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile.....
Remembering that this little dash
Might only last a while.

So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life's actions to rehash......
Would you be proud of the things they say
And how you spent your dash?
