There are a lot of reasons for this one, personal taste is different for each person. But insecure people (men or women) want someone that looks good on their arm to make themselves look better. But the fact is it really doesn't.

Myself, I don't go for Barbie.

She only wants:

Ken

Ken's money

Ken's house

And everything else she can get her grubby little hands on.

My ex was high maintenance. My late wife was low maintenance. My late wife got more out of me because she was the way she was. She never just expected she should have it. So it was fun to give her things. Nice things.

Maybe we should know everyone's definition of high maintenance. In this area, someone who is high maintenance needs a lot of attention and constant reassurance. Hence they are probably very insecure.

Now I agree with DCB here. I consider myself high maintenance. I don't expect any money from anyone. I don't want a man to buy me things, nor am I materialistic. High Maintenance for me means that I like to dress nice, have nice looking hair, good hygiene, nice clothes for work, etc....It may mean different from another guys point of view, but I know what you are saying. Alot of girls are gold diggers out there. But not me. By no means, I have my nose in the air. It just means I am into fashion, and I want to look nice in the general public. I have to at my job because we greet people every day. And i like and want nice things myself because i have earned it. Thats all.

I don't really believe that most guys are looking for high maintenance. I think guys want to be with a girl that takes pride in her appearance and is confident. I think that the average joe would enjoy being with a t-shirt and jeans kinda gal over a woman who always gets her hair and nails done and needs fancy clothes.

Im looking at Bella's description of high maintenance. I always considered myself low maintenance because I don't need things nor do I ask for money or a lot of attention. I am completely independent. According to bella though i might be a high maintenance type of gal. I spend about 2 hours a day grooming myself; Taking care of my hair, skin, nails, whitening my teeth, shaving, plucking, tanning, putting on lotion and cleansers, exercising, etc...

but i do have t-shirts and jeans. I do get my nails and toes done but they are real. Not fake ones. LOL....I do dress up when i go out though, but that is me. I dont think i should be judged on the way i dress. This should not be considered a high maintenance or low maintenance kind of deal. I am a nice person. I have no attitude like a gold digger would have. I am not asking a man to buy me anything. He can keep his money. I don't want his house, his personal belongings, no jewelry, not a thing. This is the way I have always been. There are alot of times I dress down. I dont know what the big deal is. Geesh.
