| First, congrats to those of you in relationships, long distance or not! I'm just curious (for anyone interested in answering all or any of my questions):
2. How long have you been together and how often do you see each other?
3. Do you have plans to move to be together?
4. Do you find that it is a struggle to maintain your long-distance relationship?

| I have been on a few LD relationship. It is very hard but being young (23-25 yo) I cam back and visited my friends' family. She called our friend and asked her "Did you see that guy last nigh? What do you think, would he go out with me?" I was with our mutual friend and she whispered to me to get on the phone.
Oh I was so outrageous. So long distance can be or can not be good. Maybe being older could change as we tend to be leaning towards that "final" person in each other's life.
I think a relocation plan should be first though to make it to next level.
Then should let each other know that is a possiblility. Otherwise, it might be a waste of each other's time.

| What are you calling long distance?Mine is about 1-1/2 hours away from me.It's far enough that it's not very convenient but close enough that we can see each other a couple times a week.
We try to meet halfway once or twice a week. Then,I will drive out to her once a week and she will do the same to me.What makes this harder is we both have 3 kids,so we both have commitments to them which always come first.
It's tough to make it work, because we're not just across town and can't just stop by to have lunch together without some major planning beforehand. It really stinks not being able to see her every night, but it also makes us appreciate our time together too.
I'm not sure how we will make this work.If we're going to have a future together,we'll have to decide who moves where. The long distance will not work forever.I think we can keep it going indefinately like it is now,but we both will want something more eventually.
Every situation is different, but if both people are truly in love,I think everything else becomes a very small issue. You are talking about someone you'd like to build a life with, someone to share all your hopes and dreams,to love you unconditionally who will stand by your side no matter what.If you've got that, what else matters?????You can overcome anything together.

| great answer sarpedion; thanks for taking the time to respond
Long distance is definitely open for interpretation and I left it that way intentionally. Everyone has an opinion of what is or isn't too far for them.

| Well, I'm not in one now but......
My late wife and I were in one for a little over a year before she moved in with me. We were approximately 175 miles apart.
We did see each other for a couple of days or sometimes three days, every two weeks.
It wasn't that much of a struggle. We thought the world of each other and just tried to go with the flow. It was worth the wait, as I found my soul mate.
Just thought I'd share that.

| My long distance is still VERY new. He lives 2 hours from me, and has so far been making the trek up to me.
I would have no trouble moving to him as my daughter and granddaughter happen to live in the same area as him so while I would have to give up my job, I would move to be with him.
Even though he has NO family where he lives his job is not transferable up to my area so I would almost have to move to where he is.

| I guess "officially" together since April 18th...but we've talked and flirted since Feb...we have yet to see each other...meeting is Aug. 15th.
We will see how it goes and talk about moving later on.
Long distance relationships are harder than normal relationships...but if its what you want, you will work your hardest to make it work. Nothing can stop happiness.
