Why is it that we all come here being sad and lonely? Can anyone be happy with their lives even if they don't have a mate?

Are we ever thankful for the things that we do have? Family, friends, health........ Believe me, I am not saying that I haven't been in the same boat. Sad and depressed that a relationship hasn't worked out or that I am at home alone on a Saturday Night.

I sit here and read all of these unhappy posts and I have to think that there has to be more to life than this. You need to find a way to be happy with yourself. I think that if I am happy with me and the person that I am, then the rest will come in time.

Any thoughts????????

I think happiness is an inside job. Relying on someone else to "make me happy" is not healthy for me. Others can add to my happiness, but they aren't the source.

Damn, that sounds way too serious for a happy thread.

I am not trying to make it sad but how often do we read the forums and see this? I see it all of the time!! I want to be happy just like everyone else but my man can not be the only thing that makes me that way. See my point?

I get happy as heck when I can catch my breath just walking across the room.

If I can do it without holding my nose and carrying a gas clothes dryer 40 feet I get simply thrilled if I don't drop it.

I am very happy with myself, I have not been in a relationship in 6yrs. (my choice) I have learned alot about myself during this time and I definately don't need a partner to make me happy. If ever the time comes that I may choose a partner its to enhance my life not to bring it down. I have joined this site almost a yr ago, I come here to read what ppl have to say about different things of life. some articles are sad and others are funny. but thats what makes the world go round.

I am content, and can accept being alone for the rest of my life if it so happens. Main reason I'm here is just in case that one special person exists here. Otherwise my kids can satisfy my companionship needs quite well, save the sex of course, which is great.. but not a huge must have for me.

So the answer for me is my kids make me happy, without them I would certainly be a different position.

Keeps people on their toes.. never know what I'm gonna do.

Help a person up after they've fallen?... or point and laugh and take pictures and walk off giggling?

Well now, lets see, I have a pretty good life, my 2 sons and my family make me very happy. But there is something missing, that special person to laugh and cry with, to hold and to be loved. Some one you can always count on no matter what life throws at you. Don't get me wrong I would really enjoy having that special person in my life but I'm just not ready to settle down at this time in my life. I'm enjoying the single life right now and don't see myself settling down for awhile!
