"Set me like a seal upon thy heart, love is as strong as death." (Cf. Song of Solomon 8:6)

What this means to me is that ultimately, we all have a choice to make at one point, usually many points in our life. Call it times like when Luke has to pick the good vs. the dark side or whatever other analogy you like but for me, Love is the ultimate Good and will always prevail over everything, including and most importantly death.

Doing the right thing might not feel as immediately gratifying as "getting your way", etc. but it is those choices that you make that probably involved a good amount of self-sacrifice or patience but that you are most proud of that will sustain you in times when you doubt yourself the most.

The birth of my children is a time like this because, believe me, you feel like you may very well die during natural childbirth but when that baby is born, it is a feeling like none other. And the pain goes away (phew). Well, then it is a different pain that starts up: like the pain of no sleep, no time, no money LOL...I digress...

"After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true."

- - Leonard Nimoy, as Spock from the "Star Trek" episode entitled, "Amok Time"

To me, it says that we can be singularly driven by our desires and wants. It would seem our happiness would be assured once we get what we seek, but in many cases what we actually have in our hands is nothing at all like what we initially pursued.

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. . . "

This has deep personal meaning for me. I had a handicapped son who died just over two years ago. During his life-time, I was his only advocate, and I had many "battles" to fight on his behalf.

Toward the end of my mother's life, she unfortunately, had to be placed in a nursing home facility. Again, many battles to fight on her behalf, just to see that she received decent care.

I was always a person who would stick up for the "under-dog", even as a child. I'd take on the neighborhood bully, whenever necessary.

It is important to me, that people speak up for those in our society, who cannot do so for themselves. It's kind of like being "thy brother's keeper", and all that.

It would be nice to know, that if anything ever happened to me, and I was unable to fend for myself, either mentally or physically, that there would be someone in my corner to help me out. So, how could I do any less?!

"The pen is mightier than the sword" - Edward Bulwer-Lytton. Always reminds me of how hurtful words can be, even my own, because I can put you in the ground without a shovel if you are mean to me.

"I am a part of all that I have met"

Poet: Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Poem: Ulysses

To me, this means that no matter if there is a relationship or a brief meeting in the market, you impact everyone you come into contact with. And by default, people who you never know you effect.

As a result, it is important to take responsibility for ALL of your actions, because they may, or may not, have a profound bearing on the people you meet. Are you willing to know the good and the bad consequences of your behavior?

I ask you, how would your results rate?

Junie- very thoughtful, I applaud your strength and outlook!!

But Mousie, thou are no thy-lane (not alone),
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men,
Gang aft agley, (often go awry)

It reminds me that life seldom turns out quite the way we expect or plan, but one must never give in to despair. To accept the things I cannot change and change the things I can.

If a man were to know the end this today business,er it ends and surfices to say it will end and then the end be known and if we meet again, then we will smile and if not then this parting was well made. Julius Cesar I think it means that we don't know what the future holds for any of us so lets part on good terms[or as friends] and if we meet again we will celebrate the friendship and if not then it is good that we parted friends.

The duck test is a humorous term for a form of inductive reasoning. It can be explained this way:

If a bird looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.

The test implies that a person can figure out the true nature of an unknown subject by observing this subject's readily identifiable traits. It is sometimes used to counter abstruse arguments that something is not what it appears to be.

Ok seriously now.. my favorite quote is simply.. "What comes around goes around."
I like that one because it reminds me to treat all others the way I myself would like to be treated.
