mcclintock, I never got to see my thread before it was taken down. If you were posting on that one, I don't know what you said. It is okay to be silly on a stupid thread or even on one like this but not to start trouble so that the thread is pulled off the site.

I know there is a pet lovers group but no one has posted to it since November 2007. That is quite a while. And this group would be about all animals, not just pets. Many people work in rescue and have stories about animals to tell. And you will usually find that this type of person will hookup with someone that feels the same, so why not give the animal lovers a place to meet? We know that not all people love animals.

There is a thread where a person is bashed for saying too much about their dog on their profile and that isn't right. I'm just saying that animal lovers usually have things in common that others don't share so why not let them get together away from the people who don't like animals. Everyone's opinion should be respected but animal lovers are passionate about one thing-animals. And normally they are going to date someone that feels the same. That should be respected.

Just post in the animal lovers thread, not much of a difference, pet lovers defnitly the same thing, if you have the number of people who want this thread of yours, have them gather there, since no one has been there since 11/07 i would assume you wouldn't be stepping on anybody's toes???? Comparing apples and oranges here, just set up shop in that group? Much easier and less work it would seem?

Realizing there are some big ones and hard to avoid, how would anybody be stepping on toes anywhere in here?

We've got the right to post, just like everyone else. Ya either like animals or ya don't. If you do or don't, a person doesn't need to come in screaming they eat meat and have mink covered door knobs and is about to get all mink bedspreads when possible. I have news for that person about fur, that style of thinking is very unattractive, uncouth and immensely frowned upon. About as popular as child porn or abuse, get it?

The other thread was in the right forum and stayed on topic until a heckler or two came into it. We shouldn't have to apologize, we were in the right and only expressing our opinions. Isn't that what forums are about? I think so...

Is a peaceful thread. I don't care how many more threads there are about pet lovers or the like. There is now one more.

Thumbs up, animal lovers!!

TexasAustin i was assuring the OP she wouldn't be stepping on anyone's toes, i didn't think anyone had stepped on toes, it was her beginning post on the thread she seemed reluctant to use the animal lovers room, to me it sounded like SHE may THINK she'd be stepping on some toes, from what i read.....
Many of us would like to start a group for the animal lovers on DH. We were trying to find out how much support there would be
I noticed there is a pet lovers group but no one has posted to it since last November.
Thanks to those of you who emailed me personally and I welcome all those who are interested to do the same

I simply suggested she go ahead and post on that other forum that hasn't been used in almost a year, sounded like she was having a hard time getting hers going?

I'm game! I love my daughter! She definately keeps me busy! I wouldn't part with her for anything (and my ex is definately trying to take her away) and if anything happened to her, it would really hurt me. She helps me make it through the days.

well I would think what dustin already has would be the place. Certainly you can talk about any animal in there. I came here in mid Nov and probably have posted once or twice in that group...I have many pets. Yes it probably would keep me from dates or a potential partner but I think that is the least of my worries. So many other things going against me, whats one more thing? Certainly wouldn't give up my pets...as the saying goes, we are a package deal.

I've seen many a comment on pets in photos as the main pic. So comments about talking too much about your pets in your profile doesn't surprise me. Too many nit pickers....
Maybe why some are single? Hmmm just a thought. Some people do nothing but gripe. The other day it was guys photos in their car...pick pick pick. Nothing better to do I guess. Anyway if people started going to the pet group, more would follow and it would thrive. I've got plenty to talk about with 11 cats, 5 dogs...ha ha no dates for me. Like I care....

I have grown up with cats in my life since I was a little girl. I now live with 2 cats. Jesse is all black except for her white whiskers. MonsterCat is a 19 pound, orange and white cat. Regardless of his size, he is scared of every little noise.

I would support a Group for people who have and/or love animals. I not only love animals, but it seems animals love me too.

BTW, I do not often post in threads that either I don't like. I also don't care to post in threads that seem to be same old thread in just different words.

It's great to see everyone (I mean everyone!) that has pets or loves animals speak out here.

luvwild: That's a very big cat you've described.

Where does he sleep? Anywhere he wants to, I'll bet. My dad also has a large cat that I gave to him. I'm guessing she weighs around the same as your monster cat, she's about 10 years old now.

I love cats! I have lots of them, most of them are feral cats that I've found that were homeless and now I care for. It's a revolving door; I find a good home for one and I'll take in a mother cat with five or so kittens again the next day. It's all worth it to me, I have nothing better to and if I did, I wouldn't change a thing. Helping animals is my life.

I also have a dog, she's Shepard and Rottweiler mix. I love her to bits. I don't know what I'd do without my animal friends, they literally keep me going and alive.

Happy weekend, all!

Okay, everyone. It is in the voting stage.

If you wish to vote, please go to groups, suggest new groups, Would Anyone Like to Have A DH Animal Lover’s Group and reply with your comments and VOTE. I would really appreciate your help with this.

There are a lot of new members on DH that don't even know that groups exist. We are trying to get something going that will be really popular and it will also help us to get to know one another.

Thanks for all of the support. Let's make it count!

dej, you know you can count me in.

I had no idea that something like this could ruffle so many feathers. Variety and openness on the web is a good thing, as long as things are not done to intentionally hurt someone's feelings or to harm with words.

I figure if I don't like a thread, I just move on. Why belittle someone?? It accomplishes nothing positive, except in the deluded mind of the belittler (not sure if that is a word).

Favorite saying of mine: Any idiot can tear someone down, but it takes a special person to build someone up. I'd rather try to be special than be an idiot.
