| I recently came across an article when several women shared how they proposed to a man. It was so shocking for me to read about it. Is it appropriate for a woman to propose? It is interesting what people on DH think of this idea. I would appreciate input from both genders.

| Why would it be inappropriate? Don't you go after what you want in life? I know I do. I'd have no problem proposing if I felt so inclined to do....just hope he would say yes!

A woman is entitled to her opinion as to whether she would ask or not. To each's own.
Lots of roles have gradually changed since the feminist movement back in the 70s. If a woman feels comfortable, so be it. It's open communication about her true feelings that does no harm at all.
More women are taking initiative in asking guys out on dates.
More women are asking guys for their telephone numbers.
More women are going dutch treat.
More women are making first moves on dates.
The list goes on and on. I'll stop here.

| But what kind of a man would be afraid to propose? I think if a man doesn't propose, he is not ready for that. I think a man has to mature to the level where he can't imagine his life without that special woman.

Maturity doesn't take into the account where he can't imagine his life without that special woman (if indeed she is special). Perhaps they both are not ready. Everything doesn't just fall on the man's shoulders. It takes two. He may be ready, but maybe the woman isn't ready. She may be ready, but maybe he isn't ready. Both must be ready and he must be wise to calculate and discern that both are ready to take it to that ultimate level. If not, he or she has to step up to the plate, communicate and make a decision to either work and grow or break off the relationship.

Anyway, I was searching internet, looking for proposal stories and here I came across discussion that girls proposed to their husbands and how they thought on how to do it and they were buying an engagement ring for a man. I think girls thought their relationship is ready to take it to next level but their men hesitated to make that step.

how should the proposal go?
where and when should the proposal happen?
guys put alot of though ito it. so its fine if women proposes. but to let you know alot of stress goes into it. i have friends who proposed and they were acting like the cops were looking for them they were so worried.

Bottom line before anyone proposes, one should Look Deep before he/she takes the leap.
They must look at their relationship as a whole with the good and the flaws, but ultimately, If a person cannot accept the other unconditionally, he/she shouldn't get married.
