| Hello, let me get that out of the way since I am the new guy on the block.
My question is simple, what do you say in the first email? Hello, how are you?
make a comment on their profile?
The reason I ask is I have only gotten on reply. To me if someone sends me an email at the very least I would respond and say sorry not my type or some thing along those lines.
So whats the best approach?

| I've not had much success, and certainly none that has lead anywhere. I've tried all kinds of approaches, so I'm assuming it's not so much what I'm saying or how I'm saying it. It's just that I'm not their cup of tea, so to speak.

| I agree. Ive tried everything. The ones I have come in contact with get ahold of me. Which Ive found out to work better. Just get out on these forums and groups, make your presents knowen and all will unfold.

| Many people do that. It works both ways unfortunately. Just keepp trying and meet new people on the foums. Have fun, it will happen. I answer everything so I guess it is a matter of choice.

| i can say honestly when i first started on this ste i hardly had any responses. Take a month or two to post in the forums here woman will get to know you and what your about. After that read their profile what kind of age limits they have etc. If you find someone attractive write them a email tell them look i know im not in your age range but wanted to let you know such and such thank you have a nice day. If you read everything and have some interest and things similiar in common let them know hey such and such is what I do as well. Since people have gotten to know what i am about and the kind of guy I am I have had alot mre responses

| Keep it short, simple, to the point.
Remember, no matter how beautiful an email a man writes, no matter how lengthy the note is, it won't matter unless the woman likes the man's pics on his profile and his profile in general. But pics get more weight. Don't believe the hype that pics or looks aren't important. They are.

| bestman.
Yep--he's right..pics DO play an important role..after all--MOST people are going to (potentially) contact someone if the other person's pic catches their eye, something strikes their fancy, etc.
I WILL say though (and this is JUST me/JMHO), to NOT be so quick to hit that wink button.
I personally find winks annoying as HELL--i.e. they make me think that the person just saw my pic and didn't even look at my profile.
If you DO email someone, make an effort to mention something about their profile..i.e. if it stood out to you/caught your attn., etc.
THAT way, they'll know you made the effort to read their profile..
Good luck !

| I have received quite a few emails, and winks, and i do not have a pic. so. i am not so sure if that is true bestman???
just simply write : hello i read your profile and i like it, if you see something in mine that you like, email me back.
what i do is first. is look at your profile.
1. is he married or separated = then no
2. look at his age requirements, if he is 50 and is looking to hook up with a 30 year old= the no
3. i look at his job or wages, to see if he can take care of him self.
4. look to see if he smokes and if he does = then no
5. look at his interest to see if we have anything in common, if yes = then email
6. I LOOK AT WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE LAST, why? i married a very good looking man and he cheated on me, i am hoping to find someone who is not so good looking, so hopefully he won't cheat. well its a theory but its all i got.

| You are a man, you are not supposed to get your emails replied. Didn't you know that? There is not one single formula, and people will lead you to believe that there are, women will tell you they respond to a "catchy headline", "pictures", "full body pictures" yada yada yada. Nope, none nada! there is not one whole enchilada!
And this is from one who has one who has got responses, even went out with a many; the statistic is, you write to 50 and you may get one response and that one you'd wish you'd rather not have got from. Write 500, you might get one decent workable one that you'd be interested in pursuing.
So present yourself as a stud, but be prepared to have the patience of a hippopotamus!

LOL......I like your post but u need to remember that it works both ways just like any other analogy on men vs women.
I do respond to everthing. Once in a great while, I just can't get to it. Always reply to emails no matter what. Normally reply to winks unless I open my inbox and there r 20....then it sometimes becomes more like work. I normally say thank you. If the respond back then i do as well.

| I like to get an email with a simple hi and reference to something in my profile, or something in a post they may have seen me reply to on a forum.... something that tells me why they are sending me an email... that is what catches my attention. Sometimes you do get these "blind" emails... like very general and you know it's like a mass mailing... those turn me off; a simple thanks but no thanks is all that is warranted.
I kind of feel like my response is based on the effort someone made to contact me- like a wink gets a wink, etc...
but it is frustrating when someone doesn't respond.... and it happens to most of us...
good luck with your search...
