Here's the dilemma...

Guy invites you to coffee and those are your choices.

Now let me explain.

Laney's is owned and operated by HIS COUSINS.

Everyone eats at the Greasy Spoon...including neighbors, family, and friends.

And the Corner Gas Station which has a couple of booths but everyone usually runs in, pays for gas and leaves, because they already had GOOD COFFEE at one of the other places.

Here's the stipulation...

He don't want anyone in HIS town to BOTHER HIM about it.

Why is he afraid of being bothered by someone in his town?

I did a quick search on maps. yahoo .com for coffee houses.
Starbucks by Price Cutter, 1720 West Grand, Springfield. If the coffee meeting goes bad, you can go grocery shopping.

Heck, if he puts a stipulation on your first coffee meet, what will it be like when you go on a real date? McDonalds at the mall? opps..never mind.. he might be seen.

ASK HIM WHY HE HAS A STIPULATION!

Hey gemini, I think smilinbob said it all. That is a strange stipulation for a simple coffee meet.

I'd choose a Starbuck's or something like that. More condusive for conversation.

If I go to coffee with a lady, I don't care who sees me. I don't want to hide. I don't want secrets. I want openness and honest conversation in a laid back environment.

If someone can't meet without looking over their shoulder, it's not for me.
