Everyone keeps b*tching about the economy and blaming President Bush. Has anyone stopped to realize that we had a booming economy until the Democrats took control of congress in 2006?
All you hear about in the news is how President Bushs' poll numbers are down into the low 30's. Have you checked the poll numbers on Congress? SINGLE DIGITS!!!!!!! Do you hear about this in the "news"? Hell no!

| has anyone thought to check exactly how many times Bush has used the veto???He has threatened it a few times but not used it,more than once or twice.that is because the instigators knew it was wrong and changed them or recinded them.

| Lots of interesting viewpoints, but very few included factoids on GWB's Veto's, Signing Statements, and blocked or PAC loaded Congressional votes. Any legislation goes through several committees, and Republicans as well as Democrats tend to "load" a bill with lots of "pork" or add-ons that cause the original legislation to be so skewed away from it's intended purpose, that it gets voted down spitefully by one side or the other.
This Congressional Partisan "squabbling" is designed to make one side or the other look bad in the public eye, and the possibly well intended bill is soon lost in the shuffle!
Being an Independent, I reserve the right to scrutinize BOTH parties with equal diligence.
The Dems won a bare minimum majority, and Pam has the math correct. Pelosi and the Dems did get some legislation passed, but were stymied on many attempts on others! Go to "On the Hill" website, or DSCC for the archival facts that many of you seemed to forget so easily.
Vet61, You seem to forget that there is a lag period in the economy being affected by any change in Congress and Senate legislation. The Dems didn't screw this country, GWB, D*ck C., Ashcroft, Gonzalez, Rove, Libby, Rice, etc, were the ARCHITECTS of the current debt of over $9Trillion to Communist China! I'm no Bill and Hillary fan, but he left office with a Treasury surplus of $500 Billion, and it only took GWB 1 year to squander that!
When you consider the fact that after Saleem Bin Laden, while visiting Bush(41) in Texas, loaned George Jr. a half $billion to start "Busto Oil", which failed miserably, probably by design, so as the name suggests, Jr. got the windfall of the remaining unspent funds!!
If he can't get an oil company in Texas to be successful, especially without a cent of his OWN money invested in it, how can this inept offspring of the former head of the CIA, and the NSA, be expected to successfully "run" an entire country!!
I would list all the legislation that most of you seem to have forgotten about, but I know from past efforts that seeing the facts in your face, will NOT begin to enlighten many of you, as attitudes prevail over facts and simple common sense most of the time!
Krupa, you do have an open mind, and seem to do some homework, as do a very few others like Pam, Barbeque, and Cin.
The Pelosi "image" applies to the mindset of the uninformed, lazy, opinionated American public, as the vast msjority of them couldn't care less, or pick up a pen and send their local legislator's a note voicing their opinions, or support, for pending legislation!
This pervasive mentality feeds threads like this, and I cannot fathom the lack of true knowledge that a few express in hateful and partisan euphemisms!
FYI: Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11
Bush could care less about finding OBL!
The Iraq invasion was pre-planned over a year BEFORE 9/11!
The US only gets 12% of it oil from the Middle East! Canada/Mexico-67% Ecuador-14%
US military has provided security for the construction of the Akaba Pipeline, the
CentGas/ExxonMobil Pakistani Pipeline, and Iraqi Oil fraud is in the $billions now!
I could go on and on, and on! Only a closed mind could assign responsibility to the Dems for this continued destruction of rights, the Constitution, the US economy, and the deaths
of US military forces in a contrived, manipulated, corporate motivated, "war" debacle on a small nation run by GHWB's former CIA henchman/assassin, Saddam Hussein, whom was given the chemical weapons to use on Iran and the Kurds! Do some homework, READ a BOOK! The facts are there for an open mind to access.
Did YOU know that Gulf War Syndrome has a medical "Patent"? Probably not, as does HIV/AIDs and several other strange new deseases that were biologically cooked up in secret military labs! Just thought I'd throw that in, as some food for thought!

Bush had one veto in his first term. Only after the midterms of 06 he vetoed 8 more times.
