| After a review of my budget last night I have concluded that eating has become a bad habit. And driving anywhere is just about beyond my means. So I have had to make some decisions regarding this whole dating thing. First of all, the actual dating process, not including the price of gas, is really expensive. On a fixed income in an economy that is anything but fixed it can really put a damper on dating motivation. I don't know how others are dealing with this issue, but for me it means making some changes in my life style. Unfortunately it means not attending any future meetups that are out of my driving range (10 miles around the Millbrook/Prattville Alabama area). In all honesty the whole on line experience has not been all that useful in terms of dating. I meet more eligible ladies in the local laundry mat than I do on line.
I really enjoy the DH forums, but I think it has become a replacement for real life activity which is not a good thing. I need to get out more and meet my neighbors so to speak. Now living on a horse ranch makes this a tad difficult, but not impossible. My plan is to go into town a few times a week and have dinner at a local pub. I did this last night for about 12 dollars, which is way less than a typical date. I didn't meet anyone, but the waitress was sure cute. At least she responded when I actually winked at her. Which is quite different than the dead silence you get from the online ladies. I will continue posting but maybe not surfing the forums so much.
Because of my decisions I have placed the following at the bottom of my profile.
Because gas prices and the economy are getting out of hand I have decided to date only within 10 miles of the Millbrook/Prattville area. Also, I am going to start a dating search section on my net radio show, which airs every week day at 8:30 am to 8:45 am. Also, it is a good way for someone to get to know me. You can listen at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/woodlandstar.
If anyone has some other suggestions for dealing with the dating cost issue please let me know. I am open to just about any reasonable advice.

| Most, at least those who are also on a limited income and adjusted budget would understand and i'm sure agree to go dutch, then of course you have some, mainly women even with this big feminist movement, who are looking to better their income level and wouldn't date someone with such a limited income anyway, then again you might look for some of them who have a good income and might even pay for the dates with you, anywho, don't give up on dating, just look for the type of woman who can split the cost, or who could even support you and wouldn't mind doing so. lol......

| Nevyn, I totally agree with you...there is no dating here anyway. Everyone is to far away so who cares. I just like the forums for the hell of it. BUT, I too am on a fixed income, have been on here waaay to much and need to get a real life, as it seems you are doing. I wish you good luck as kicking this site could be a problem as there are some on here I REALLY like, but they are so far away, or not interested (maybe both) that it wouldn't work anyway. So, time spent here is wasted time, and I have two small children to take care of.

Taking care of a couple of kids at your (my) age is tough... I do like the forums, but damn I really don't want to waste my life here trying to contact cyber space ladies. Besides, this is not exactly the spring of my life. I am determined to get off this ranch and go do something, even if it is just sitting in Wal Mart's fast food joint.

In all honesty I would rather continue to smoke.
Quote from noredneckhere:
Do you really think men don't get tired of... get ready here..... snuggly-cuddly-conversation-glass of wine-walk in the woods-walk on the beach- sunrise-sunset-shopping-Oprah topic discussing-Titanic watching-go to therapy-Harlequin romance reading-all the world should be sunshine and puppy dogs-I want a real man.
And that is what this whole dating thing is about...at least for the cyper space ladies. I would rather have a beer and a smoke.

| I may sound old fashioned, but when I meet a guy,I try to meet in a public park or someplace free like the area mall or a flea market or somewhere cheap or free. If it's a park,I bring something to drink and a snack and we walk, talk and get to know one another. If it's the mall, then we can window shop or people watch while talking,or sit and talk on a bench. If it's a fleamarket there is a lot of ways to start conversation. Dates can cost very little, just be imaginative. I'm on a budget, own a gas guzzeling truck, lol and still manage to have fun and date. Have a backyard bbq in the summer and include friends. There are all kinds of cheap or free things to do on a date. Like the saying goes, keep it simple sweetie.

| The waitress 'responded' to your wink, because that's her job - to be nice to especially the male customers.
That's where most of the money (the restaurant's and hers) comes from.
Sorry.
Living on a farm makes any form of 'dating' very difficult.
Check out a TV 'reality' show called Farmer Wants A Wife.
Yes, it's stupid, but kind of entertaining.
Not driving makes dating in North America impossible, at least for men.
Sorry again.

I ABSOLUTELY agree!!! Even just sitting on the bench at wallys with the other old men...LOL Sad, but better than here and for the kids, as soon as the younger is in school for a whole day...look out walmart!!!
edited to add - hey wolfi you are just to damn upbeat for me...wait a while to see if your outlook doesn't change in a few years.

| There is no "bonus plan". That's the whole beauty of it. And you meant how much would I "PAY" for the "bonus plan", not charge.
I'm not providing a service. I'm paying for one.
