I just really wonder what planet you guys are living on, set aside the ego's and read what you all have been writing about each other..."The topic Was voting for your own kind" I suppose that was a question about voting for our own race or not!?!?
Anne does not seem loony or crazy or anything else to me! I don't know her from Eve but she says she is biracial as am I as well as my child, so I feel not only does she have a valid point she is historically right....is wrong with you guys I thought most of you had open minds but instead I see ppl attacking on another.......

It is spelled "Grammar.'

Heck, Annie I don't care if you are green with purple stripes. Honestly, I don't!

PS "beyond" is another misspelling. And so is "lynching."

Annie you and I collided when I stated ILLegals should not be allowed in the USA. And yes, maybe I went a bit overboard with the pit bulls.

Maybe we should use dalmations. I hear they bite harder.

And Dustin has kicked you off from time to time, hasn't he?

It stands to reason that many people will vote for Senator Obama because he is black and the same can be said regarding votes for Senator Clinton simply because she is a woman. It would be most unfortunate if people cast votes in favour of either solely based on gender and race. Understand also that any untold amount of people will not vote for Senator Obama or Senator Clinton for the same reasons. Which of the two scenarios is more dangerous can be left open to any level of debate.

The Democratic contest for the Presidential nomination has been wrought with both sexism and racism. On the Republican ticket, Senator McCain's age seems to be an issue (yet it was the least of peoples concerns when Reagan became President at a very youthful 69 years of age). It serves as a reminder that we live with superficial divisions in what we call a united system. How sad it is to know this as we look at our collective status within the world. The United States suffered a calculated and vicious attack on September 11, 2001, just short of the 60th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Our economy, domestically and internationally, is dangerously weak. 1.6 million homeowners received forclosure notices in 2007 due to the unregulated practices of predatory lending. As thousands continue to lose jobs and benfits in manufacturing, CEOs of the same companies retire with double-digit millions and full-coverage health insurance. Somehow, whatever our total expenses for gas by the end of this month will be, an additional 15 percent will be needed to cover the expected fuel increase for June. While we rush to assist survivors of last week's cyclone in Myanamar, we still have displaced residents of Louisiana and Mississippi due to Katrina three years ago. It would appear our current administration is poised for military action in Iran. 47 percent of our world debt is owed to China and Japan. Our educational system, while greatly improved over the past few years, falls embarrassingly short against the high standards of education in countries with far fewer resources than our own. All of these encumbrances and more, but we still expense a great deal of time, and finances in many cases, to assure that some members of American citizenry will always have less, or struggle more than others.

Voting for our own kind.......while I understand why you present this question, it sustains the notion that we are quicker to cite differences within each other as opposed to recognising and embracing what binds us together. I cannot escape the thought that throughout our 232 year history as an officially established nation, it is our attitudes toward race and gender during all this time that is a primary reason why we all suffer today as a country. Trust me when I say that other countries are increasingly aware of this as they continue to distance themselves from a warring nation that denounces oppression and division internationally, yet finds little incentive to erase it from its own soil. Perhaps it is only a matter of fully comprehending the true meaning of three small words that were written two centuries ago........."We The People"

I think before deciding who we are going to vote for, we better look very closely at who they choose for vicepresident because it is very likely that is who will be completing the job.

Of course, I will say what I meant by that. First, let me say that I affiliate with neither party so it isn't about that.

Have you seen how the presidency ages people in 4 or 8 years in that job? I think they are all nuts for wanting it but McCain is just too old~~period. I definitely want to see who he picks for VP. Not many Republicans would get my vote at this point in time but there may be one or two that could sway my opinion.

And I agree with Senator Obama's wife. She is terrified that someone will kill him if he is elected and we all know there are people stupid enough to try that. I just have that fear for him if he is elected, either by some organization or a person who is racist and we all know they exist. Arian Nation has a compound about 30 miles from here. This is a scary election.

Again, I will not decide until I have seen their selection for VP.

And no, I am not Hillary's biggest fan either.

Well, suppose Obama picks John Edwards?

Suppose McCain picks Romney (a real chance of happening)

Then, whoever gets in, what is the first order of business regarding military action in the Persian Gulf? How will the next President make it possible for you to afford your Fosomax presciption without having to give up your Corn Flakes and Twinkies? What about energy costs? What about gas prices? You can't pedal a bike without the Fosomax, so what will you do? What's the plan needed so you don't have to start walking around the house with a key-chain flashlight? What can the President do to help prevent you from wearing the same support briefs for a month just to cut down your washing machine use?

So, regardless of who the Vice President is, the guy you're afraid that might get whacked by Agent Smith, (or "Billy-Bob"), or the guy that has a stroke while watching the Diamondbacks score a 2-run lead, still has to have a domestic and international agenda in stone before January 20th.

In the scenario you presented, I guess I would be voting for Obama. I would hope there is someone better than Romney.
The questions you pose are off topic for this thread. The question was about voting for your own kind. My answer is no and I don't know yet who I am voting for.

No dej88: The proposal I presented is on topic; "voting for your own kind" should be prefaced with looking at the issues that are choking the life out of all of us, Democrat and Republican, black and white, man and woman. My first comment to this thread pointed to the superficiality of voting a candidate because of colour or gender. My subsequent posts try to flip the perspective on the issues, and prayerfully, people will vote based on who can best work through the problems.

I agree with you and that is why I haven't decided who I am going to vote for and won't until I see who will there with them. Actually, I would prefer a different choice. The ones I selected are out of the race now. When it comes down to the last two, I'll make an educated vote. It's too soon for that right now.
