| "At a flexing point in human history, America's perversion of Christianity is destroying the world, says Rev. Dr. Robin Meyers, a Christian minister and peace activist. We cannot sit out this critical time, he warns -- our actions count, inaction is complicity.
Right-wing extremist Christians and politicians have distorted and corrupted the worldview Rev. Meyers deeply loves, and he holds them personally accountable for a long list of offenses. Worshipers of Christ have replaced Followers of Jesus. The idolatry of nationalism has overwhelmed Jesus' radical love of neighbor. An un-Christian, unrecovered alcoholic is the fountainhead of lies pouring out of America's government. This same President's political party shamelessly corrupts the teachings of Jesus with unethical, immoral behavior in the interest of money and power.
Americans who, regardless of party, have the creeping feeling things are not going the way we all want them have a wealth of positive, pro-active things they can do, Rev. Meyers says. First, instead of being immobilized by genuinely terrible truths, form what he calls communities of dignified indignance. Make Levees Not War. Break our addiction to stuff and use less of it -- stuff is killing us and the planet. Back real Democrats who care about working people and the poor instead of blaming them. Raise the minimum wage. Stem the growing gap between rich and poor which threatens the whole society -- tax the rich, not the poor.
Dr. Meyers' genuine hope springs from two very deep wells: Egalitarian Christianity as practiced by followers of Jesus in the 1st-Century when Christianity was dangerous, subversive and radical; and a strong sense that our actions matter in the face of what he boldly calls American fascism.
Both as a professor of rhetoric and as minister, Dr. Meyers does not use "the F-word" casually. Fascism, he reminds us, means corporate control of everything with the blessing of the Church, as Mussolini understood when he named it. It's unmistakable. Control by special interests. Cronyism. Fraudulent elections. Use of fear to control the population. Mass media amplifying corporate and political lies to protect the privileged few. These and more profoundly anti-democratic actions are simply a cover for making more and more money and holding on to it.
Yes, today's terrible reality in America has put the world in very very dangerous shape right now, Rev. Meyers declares. Rise to the occasion! Fear not! We've been in a dangerous place before, and human beings have jumped to the next level of consciousness. We can do it again, he believes. Even in America." http://www.paulagordon.com/shows/meyers/
This guy is one half correct. He does not have the insight nor the courage to admit that christianity itself is perverted...But, it's a step to recognize that evangelical fundamentalists are dangerous!

| Just telling the truth as history reveals it....And obviously, many people in the world and here agree with the criticisms against christianity...Only the most delusional of the cult are offended...those with some knowledge and conscience readily admit the perverse history and the evil within the cult...And as this preacher points out, there is a very dangerous element....chistianity, as does islam, needs to be reexamined and have the evil within expunged...
Of course those who support evil will be offended and hurt that someone points out that they are members of a group which really has little to be proud of, taken in it's entirity!..They are so caught up in the delusion that it narrows their view and reasoning and perverts in many areas.
Why don't you email dustin about my threads and posts....and while you are at it ask if you being a forum stalker and type of troll is ok.
You don't contribute to a thread, but operate at a low level of a troll.
I don't really expect you to understand anything beyond your indoctrination.
And i don't speak to you, even though it may appear that i am. Your posts only confirm what my experience has shown me about the deceptiveness, meanness, and irrationality of the religiously indoctrinated mind. And i am sure those who can discern that evangelical perversity can see it also.
So, your thinly veiled threat to silence me did not work!..But, i assume the mind of a 9 year old troll will get some satisfaction from this response...Let's see now, this is where you repeat back to me what i said...again, in the mind of a 9 year old, a clever tactic to manipulate others and massage their frail ego.
btw, i see no evidence within your posts that you are a christian, except in name only!

The only reason I mentioned Dustin is because you obviously like to bend the rules, exactly how you bend your "truths."

"No religion is suddenly rejected by any people; it is rather gradually outgrown. None sees a religion die; dead religions are like dead languages and obsolete customs: the decay is long and -- like the glacier march -- is perceptible only to the careful watcher by comparisons extending over long periods."
-- Charles Bradlaugh, "Humanity's Gain From Unbelief"
"Before August, 1914, it was the correct thing to proclaim Christ as the Prince of Peace and Christianity as the religion of love and the brotherhood of man. We had a Peace Sunday each year when lip-service was paid to Peace from thousands of pulpits. After August, 1914, these sames pulpits resounded with phrases of the Lord as a man of war (Exodus, xv. 3) and declarations that the great European War was a Christian war, sent directly by Almighty God himself. The earlier attitude, disassociating Christianity from war, was both dishonest and, to say the least of it, ungrateful; for Christianity has been nursed, nourished, and spread abroad by war and by what we now call frightfulness."
-- Hypatia Bradlaugh Bonner, "Slavery" chapter of Christianity & Conduct; Or, The Influence of Religious Beliefs on Morals (1919), quoted from Gaylor, Women Without Superstition, p. 311

My Brother, when you say :"Christianity itself is perverted." I can not accept the thought that you are referring to the Philosophy of Jesus as recorded in any of the bibles by any of the church's that recognize the bible as the Word of God.
I accept this statement as referring to : "Those that have a religious understanding in the God concept of the bible; Yet, Lacking in the true understanding of Jesus message of Loving others as you would want them to Love you."
Also, that those whom profess this way of life, understanding and knowledge; Yet are doing everything viable to not achieve the goals of bettering humanity in a non-violent manner, which does not recognize every living human as a spiritual kin, Keeping oppression and all ill mannerisms existing as an Evangelical Fundamentalist.
To this I agree whole heartedly. They proclaim they are a Christian and oppose all that they profess in hypocrisy.
As a Follower of the Actions and Philosophy of Jesus, many in ignorance proclaim to be a Christian as well. Unthinkingly linking their selves with those that oppose all that Jesus lived and said; In which, they become offended by being tied in with the violent worshipers of Organized Religion and Fundamentalist Church's.
There is no Oppression or Injustices;
There is no violence in Peace and Love

| Justme, you are a smart fellow considering your rather young age.Skunk finds all things about christianity evil and probably always will.God bless him, that is just the way he is.However,he does seem to bring up a very good point about american christians who worship the flag of the united states.Too many of them view american government actions as infallible and ignore their christian ideals in the face of this new form of fascism.
A man can not serve two masters.American foreign policy is often in strong opposition to our christian beliefs.Fascism and communism should be strongly opposed by any christian because they both tout the states interests above the individual liberties and freedoms.Even skunk will admit that America was founded out of christian idealolgy and values. We need to get back to where our founding fathers intended us to be and stop trying to impose our beleifs and values on the rest of the world. We have been isolating ourselves from the rest of the world because of our arrogance and perceived rightiousness.
Too many christians only pay lipservice to their beleifs.A lot of them will shake your hand on sunday and proceed to rob you on monday.

No way, first of all, no "christian" calls themself "reverend", "father" or even "teacher" according to biblical instruction. That in itself shows how much christians have wandered from the Word, but NOT all christian.

| k, here's the deal:
Mat 23:7
They enjoy the attention they get on the streets, and they enjoy being called `Rabbi.'[fn2]
Mat 23:8
Don't ever let anyone call you `Rabbi,' for you have only one teacher, and all of you are on the same level as brothers and sisters.[fn3]
Mat 23:9
And don't address anyone here on earth as `Father,' for only God in heaven is your spiritual Father.
Mat 23:10
And don't let anyone call you `Master,' for there is only one master, the Messiah.
You wrote so much stuff and I must go and come back with the results of my research This is good for me, hope it's good for you
