| Has anyone else met someone in person and he or she looks very little like or not at all like their pictures? What is this: trick photography? A 10-15 year old picture or maybe even a sibling? I have used my web cam from time to time when I chat this helps some. A male friend of mine (Carl) was chatting with a friend (Mary) for a few weeks. The friend (Mary)became a pro at angling the camera in the right direction during their chat sessions. Accept one day when Mary got out of her seat to use the bathroom she didn't block the camera view instead the web camera showed the waist area and my friend (Carl) saw that Mary was really Mark.

| I just noticed that there is a topic very similiar to this one. The only difference would be the web cam usage. A camera can give you a live view and show mannerisms before meeting in person.

Your right, this girl from the Bronx had a 10 year old picture on her profile. When i met her i was not feelin her, but decided to go through the date anyways. She took me to town ordering double lobsters and all of that. What a nightmare. Do webcam or chance!

| Yes I have encountered this problem as well....Not one of the men that I have met from online dating sites look like their pictures. I like to think I look better in person. I never have liked my picture taken, I dont feel that I am photogenic and I dont belive the pictures show me as I really look. People who know me think my pics do look like me.

| No but I'm really 10 years older, a foot shorter than I state and weigh in at 400lbs and balding but I use a plethora of angles and other neat camera tricks to appear taller and and younger than I really am. It's really not working for me though...

| I have also had that happen. Most say I look better than my pic but that is to the eye of the beholder.
One guy I did not even recognize at all. He had hair in his pic, bald in life, weight was more. I would have never known but he did recognize me.
Turned out to be a nice guy but just not for me.

| Oh my YES! I did have that problem. And you know, the guys still have the same misleading pictures on their profile? I keep my pictures current (don't want to go to the expense of a cam but I have a digital camera that works just fine) and ask friends if they feel the pics look like me. I'm told I look better in real life (which is nice!). And as far as my body type? I'd rather overrepresent than under. I'd rather someone tell me "You're not as big as you say you are" than run away screaming "H-ll lady! You're a Mack truck!"
People who misrepresent themselves by not being honest in their profile as to who/what they are or by putting up pictures that don't look like them, are only setting themselves up for heartache. Put the real you online so you will find people who will be attracted to the real you not a fantasy.

| I am sure you can get a web cam for a price starting at $30.00 or less. I was stating the point that the cam would give you a "live view" of the person and their actions. Digital pics can not verify the image a person is trying to present to you.
Chala I think THAT was tacky for that date to order some of the most expensive things on the menu on a first date. She killed any interest you may have had in her by doing that.

| Im a big supporter of more webcam use! i think women just assume us guys only want to webcam in the nude and be raunchy, so they shy away from it. c'mon ladies, i want to wipe the dust off my webcam and get some use out of it! dont be afraid!

| I met one guy, from another site, for coffee. He looked NOTHING like his photo he had online...acted nothing like he had in emails or on the phone. Hour of that was enough for me

| I've met alot of people from this site and I have to say that alot of the ladies I met when we had a meet-up party were even more attractive than the pics on their profiles. The guy's pretty much look the same as their pics. Except me, and that's because I cut my hair off really short compared to what it was. But I also have met a couple of ladies who had a friends pic on their profile which I thought was really pathetic. If your gonna meet someone from a site, at least show the real you. That way you do save face(so to speak)and avoid the embarrasment of looking like a liar and an idiot. Web cams have a tendancy to round peoples faces because they are too close to the camera.

| The OP was pretty funny. Can't say I've ever had a problem with others not looking like who they say they are. Most look better in person than their photos.
I personally do not like web cams but some people do. Long ago though I was talking with a friend who did have one...we chatted awhile and he thought he turned the camera off. Got up to leave and was bare butt naked No was not a dirty chat lol I certainly was surprised to see his everything. We still chat occasionally, to this day I've never told him he left it on. He is such a sweetheart, might embarrass him as it wasn't an intended flash.

| I hate pictures ,I look better in person ,my smile always looks crooked,And I guess a pic makes you look bigger, But you shouldn't lie, lying about the way you look is just more game playing.
