Because you rarely know what a wink means. I generally blow them off or send another wink back. Then the wink wars begin. Winky winky back and forth.

Best just to take a second and write a quick E mail.

Especially if it says no winks in their profile. If it says no wink, best not wink as these people have issues on the wink. It also shows that you didn't read their profile. Seems that not reading the profile becomes the bigger issue if you wink at a wink hater.

Some people are just here for fun and not really here to meet anyone. I've noticed that. Us guys don't have a problem with the winks. We are the majority looking. Most of the attractive women are just on here for attention, and they like to pick & choose who they will talk to.

Most people do not consider the wink a sign of interest.

I was getting 25 to 35 winks a day. I don't have time to reply to all them winks as my eyes get tired.
Even after writing in my profile to please not bother sending me winks I still get 6-8 per day. It tells me that the senders are lazy and haven't taken the time to read my profile or are just too inconsiderate to respect my request.
If they wish to take the time to write an email and introduce them self, well I will damn sure take the time to reply.
I personally view the wink as an irritating method to say hello. If you feel the inclination to say hello, why be irritating in doing so. It should be worth at least the effort one might expend making a forum post.

You know it's the same as me stating that if you're a smoker please don't contact me. I've realised how stupid that must seem to the American guys who want to chat to me but it needs to be there because this site links to The DH Australian site too.

Most of the time, when I respond to a wink, it turns out to be a guy that just wants to talk dirty or send me nasty pictures. So I don't respond to them anymore. Really, if you wanna talk to me, why not send a quick email? It could be as simple as saying, "Hi! Wanna talk?" And, no, hun. I don't wanna see pictures of your teeny weeny.

25-35 a day, kewl and you found that irritating, sad to hear in no way should one even think lazy, most profiles read after an initial interest is generated from reading posts etc., which seemingly shows a basic pic of what they may be like, how they respond to topics.........now a profile developed as we go along, profiles everchanging..........hardly anyone knows actually what to put on profile from the beginning because we adapt, we change and we evolve , hell, I dont have a stiff-shirt in my closet !!!

I use a wink ... like a smile to a stranger in passing. It doesn't cost you anything to recognize another as a person. vs.

I sometimes wink at those who have viewed my profile ... hopefully read it ... as a thank you for their time in doing so. To actually leave a verbal message is often misconstrued as a 'come on', I don't want that. If I have the time (it may seem like I'm always here, but, I actually do 'work' on this thing & just check in here occasionally) I try to respond to most of them back ... hence, I'm guilty of the 'winky-winky' battle too. >

I don't usually respond to 'shadows' ... sorry it's just this thing I have about seeing the 'eyes' of those I respond to. I've seen a lot in people's eyes! Also, I remember faces over names ... shadows all look alike to me ... a no brainer there ...

Each to his own I guess, you never know what that 'wink' might get you.

It's funny though...I had a real 'winky-winky' battle with a little boy (about 3-4) in the pew in front of me at church last week. At first, he couldn't figure mine out, then I almost laughed aloud at his attempts ... It lasted a good 15 minutes & definately brightened my day!

Have a great day & weekend!

I don't wink, cause so many of the ladies here say they get winked all the time.

However, if someone winks at me, I answer with a short email after reading their profile. I get a kick out of being winked at, but maybe that is just a guy thing. At least a wink means I may have gotten someone's attention, so a polite email is in order.
