I'm an engineering professional involved in the telecommunications and internet business. I enjoy most mountain activities including hiking, camping, skiing and of course, the beach. During the spring and summer months here in North Carolina, you will find me on the tennis courts. My favorite spectator sports are football and college basketball. I'm temporarily in Smithfield for business reasons. I'm a native of North Carolina but I've been out west in Denver, Colorado since I graduated from NC State. I've traveled extensively in South America, Mexico and the West Indies so I have an appreciation for different cultures.
I joined the Marine Corps one week after I turned 17 and managed to survive those 4 years. The next 3 years were somewhat less intense since I was studying electrical engineering and telecommunications at NC State. After graduation, I worked overseas, on assignment, with NASA in data acquisition for the manned spaceflights. For the past 20 years I lived in Denver, CO and worked in new product development, internet applications and engineering management. I'm currently writing a book. It’s non-fiction and deals with various economic, social and political issues in our society. It's suggests a different solution to dealing with the issues in terms of identifying the causes rather than continuing to deal only with symptoms and effects. The other theme is relating our consumption mentality to many of the issues. The book will suggest a re-orientation to productivity in individuals, industry and government as a basis for becoming more competitive in the world economy. The inspiration for this book evolved last year when I was doing some non-profit work on substance abuse and homelessness here in NC. I think I've found that the approach to dealing with this issue can be applied to many other issues in our society.
