“Displaced California girl looking for love…” Sigh... Any of us could write a book and we'd still leave out something vital! Oh well. Settle for basics – I’m an artist, a former hang glider pilot and SCUBA diver, I read scifi/fantasy addictively, and I work from home – not often enough – doing contract Web work. Most of the time I work retail. I am financially on a shoestring but still hope to live comfortably again one day. I love beauty, comfort, animals, laughter; have 11 indoor cats that are my "children" (inherited half of them, didn't set out to have so many!) and am passionate about animal rights and the proper use of the English language. I believe in escapism and stories with happy endings, because why focus on all the things that go wrong in life? I believe in fixing what I can and looking for the things that can make me smile whenever possible. I like making other people smile too, and I think most things are more fun when I have a partner to share them. Activities that I enjoy, or used to enjoy when they were available, include movies, horseback riding, walking, rollerblading, listening to music, singing, watching fireflies, dancing at Vintage balls and hanging out at Renaissance Faires. I am spiritual and will discuss that with open-minded people, but I am *not* Christian or traditionally religious, which I find excludes me from most social activity here in the South.
Who I'm looking for:
A man with at least as much courage and desire to give himself as I have! This is not to say I'm expecting Instant Love Affair -- just add internet and go -- I expect friendship, ease, common ground, and chemistry before thinking of anything more serious -- but I won't pretend I'm willing to "just settle" either.
As to looks, I'll be honest: I prefer to date younger men, though there are always exceptions. I'm a very visual person, and it's rare to find anyone over 40 who really takes care of his body and his looks. Since I make the effort to take care of mine I feel you should do the same. A man who would pique my interest physically would keep himself young-looking and be reasonably handsome/cute with a SLIM /athletic /fit body, great eyes, great smile!
Also, obviously: No photo that shows you clearly? No response! (WHY do men hide under hats and behind sunglasses???)
Looks and chemistry really matter, but without humor, intelligence, honesty and a warm heart, looks aren't enough. Someone who loves animals, cares about the planet we're living on, and recognizes that the world is full of mysteries to explore. He'd also be old-fashioned enough to want to take care of his lady rather than looking for a "successful career woman" type. Even with all of the above, if the communication doesn't flow like a river, no real friendship or relationship is going to happen either. After all, if you can't get a kick out of just being together, why would you want to be lovers?
