Shorthand version: Rockabilly/redneck. History buff. Part-time Pirate and Scottish lady in waiting. Pentecostal Christian. Animal rescue volunteer. Movie fanatic. Dancer/singer/performer since my mom put me onstage the moment I could walk; she then raised me there.
Fifth-generation Texan. Black Irish/Celt with a little Apache. I bleed burnt orange and never miss a Longhorn game if I can help it. And OU still sucks. I like native Texans because they don't get their panties in a bunch over our deeply held belief that Texas is God's backyard, but if you promise not to insult my patch of ground, I won't insult yours :o).
I love football. No, really. I'm not just saying that to convince you what a cool chick I am LOL. Being further honest, I don't care much for basketball in any environment, and I only like baseball when I'm sitting in the stadium with a beer in one hand and a hot dog in the other. I'm really getting into hockey lately because my 7 year old son intends to be the next Mike Modano, and I don't see any reason why not.
In football, I prefer high school and college games, because I think they have a lot more heart and tradition. But I luvs my Cowboys too. I will voluntarily watch it every weekend, and can even keep track of what down it is and who has the ball. My family and I will embarrass you a lot if you happen to be hanging with us during a Longhorn game, we go right off the spool. And if we manage to actually get tickets to the TX/OU game in October? Forget it LOL. There's going to be a brawl at some point during the day, and chances are that one or more of my four big brothers will be in the middle of it. I might too. In fact, my mom might. And I'd bet on her any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
My current passion is tracking family genealogy. My great-aunt Clemmie was the last history fanatic in our family until me, and was also the holder of all the family documents that have been passed down since the first two brothers arrived here in the 1750's. Aunt Clemmie expanded greatly on what we had, but she became ill and passed away before the internet really became THE tool for tracking history. At some point I'm going to go to Ireland and see how much further I can take it back; we know that the family came to Ireland from a specific part of Scotland. But for now I'm getting a huge kick out of using the internet, major public libraries and road trips to dig up as many details as I can. If this sounds like the most boring pursuit imaginable to you and you couldn't care less where your family came from, then we probably don't pull our wagons at the same speed.
I'm tired of the short/tall debate, so here's my take on it: I prefer guys who are 5'10" or over. This is not because shorter men are not perfectly spectacular human beings. It's a combination of childhood conditioning and personal preferences. I hit 5'8" in the seventh grade, and for the next two years I felt like Baby Huey next to all the boys, who still weren't tall enough for the big roller coasters at Six Flags.
I developed a phobia at that time and your rational and perfectly valid explanations of how 'height doesn't matter' will not change it. Also, I AM 5'8" and have a fondness for high heels and vintage platform shoes, so in the neighborhood of six feet is a safe bet.
If you prefer women with a very athletic/boyish/youthful build, then I'm not for you either; I'm an extremely curvy hourglass and have no plans for changing it because (a) genetically God didn't intend for me to be flat chested with skinny hips, and (b) I love my shape. I won't hold it against any guy who would prefer a thin/slender/athletic build on their woman; it's their preference. But please don't send me hate mail because I'd prefer to date a guy on the taller side either, kthnxbye.
