I'm honest, faithful, loyal, passionate, and very patriotic. I really enjoy sharing time with friends and family, being in the great outdoors, fishing, boating, swimming, and am an outdoor writer, nature photographer, and fishing guide. Nearly 30 years ago I was severely injured at work, broke my back at the waistline, spent nearly 5 years paralyzed, 6 years in a wheelchair, and 8.5 years in physical therapy...(all the time hearing I wouldn't be able to walk again.)
Had an out of body experience that was one of the most incredible and significant moments of my life...saw my broken, lifeless body below me...could feel the warmth of the sun, the breeze on my cheek...felt the most powerful sense of love and belonging I've ever had...knew I could stay where I was, or go back...and knew there were things I wanted to do--easy choice, but an uphill battle to come!!!
God Bless all the health care workers who believed in me, for I now walk unassisted...yeah, I use a cane at times (mainly for long distance, rough terrain, or formal occasions) but have found that one of the keys to life is not how many times you fall down, but how many you get back up...winners never quit, and quitters never win. Consider myself one of the luckiest guys on the planet in spite of some of the things that have happened to me. I'm fairly patient, but also intolerant of injustice, BS, or manipulative, conniving people no matter who the target of their wrath may be (yeah, I tend to root for the underdog.)
I'm an outdoor writer and fishing guide, and support myself with a couple of other jobs during the slow part of my fishing season. While I love to fish for anything that will bite and fight, muskellunge are my favorites!
I enjoy motor racing of all types, love driving fast, also enjoy kids and social events. I teach a course on fishing at the local junior college, and give seminars about the fisheries of Southern Illinois...(as a fishing guide, I've had people travel from 21 other states to come fish with me!) But I also know that happiness and success isn't measured by the size of your wallet, but by the heart that is within you...hoping to find a similar minded partner who has optimism and inner beauty wherever they go, one who brightens the room when she enters it...basically, the kind that you can't get out of your mind, no matter where you are, and how long it's been since you've seen them...I had that for many years in my former relationship, and miss it dearly. A little baggage from the past is okay, but I don't want a whole truckload of it, either. Learn from the past, and carry it in memories only. (Took me a while to get to this point, but glad to have reached it.)
Hoping to hear from you if I sound interesting...in a recent interview, I was asked the following question-- "if one of your current or former co-workers was to describe you, what would they say were your three best characteristics?" I quickly replied that 'there were four...honesty, loyalty, faithfulness, and a sense of humor, and that these ran through to the core--they might as well dismiss me as to get rid of one of them, 'cause that's the way I am.'
Inner beauty a must...it's more important to me what your 'inner chapters' say, and not the cover on your book...no evil, fake, or plastic women need respond...be confident and secure in who you are, and you'll do well in my book. Tall, short, thick, thin, your body type isn't as important as the quality within...(NOTE--no Tom Cruise psychoses/neuroses here!!!)
