I retired from the Univ. of Kentucky faculty in 1998 after 25 years of teaching and research---I feel very fortunate and grateful to have had the opportunity to practice in what I believe to be, one of the noblest of professions. I lived in the center of the city, enjoying the amenities of downtown life----dreaming all the while of having a place in the country---and when I retired, I sold the downtown 120 year old Victorian and moved eleven miles out from Lawrenceburg, KY to a small house and a hundred acres---& have absolutely enjoyed every minute of the 8 years I have lived here. I continue to go to Lexington for meals and entertainment with friends; I thoroughly enjoy a monthly trip with old time friends, to Louisville for plays at Actors Theatre; and twice a year to Gulf Shores to a family condo and eat and drink heartily of seafood and good wine, for a couple of weeks. I came to realize, since living here, that I am a bit of a recluse, enjoying being alone almost as much as I do socializing with others; I absolutely detest doing housekeeping, housecleaning chores---there are sooo many, more interesting/enjoyable things to do outside---I had much rather be working with the tractor than cleaning house---so, one might guess what the inside of my house must look like. I am busily creating a habitat that is friendly to wildlife that were here a hundred years ago and native grasses that were killed off and replaced with cattle-grazing fescue grass. I feel as if I have rambled a bit (which is also my forte). But, further,
I would love to meet an upbeat, happy, gentle, compassionate, open and positive, non-controlling, friendly woman, who takes care of her body, who could abide with some of my idiosyncrasies (there are really not many & they are truly not serious!) and who would enjoy participating in some of my enjoyments and I, in turn, in hers. I am a bit shy, yet socially skilled; a bit of a klutz (if anyone overturns a glass of water on the table, it's usually me)
yet very coordinated, and active-------& that's enough for now!!
