I am a single, young looking 53 year old male. I feel I am at a crossroad now, with retirement just 4-5 years away. I have lived alone most of my adult life, (by choice) but as I approach retirement, it would be nice to share it with someone, that can be my best friend and lover. I enjoy the simple things in life, have been very much a homebody, but would like to get out more. I use to share my house with two dogs and a cat, but sadly, I lost both of my dogs last year. I do want to get another one, so liking dogs is important to me, as they can be your best buddy! I enjoy playing cards, going to auctions, yard sales, Ebay, walking, playing cards and swimming. I use to have a large garden, and canned much of what I grew, but have put that off the last two years. I would like to start doing this again. I do prefer warm weather activities, but have no problem walking in cold weather and snow. However, I would like to move further south at some point, after I retire, (in 4 years) with the special one. I also enjoy a trip to Foxwoods once a year, so I can lose $200 LOL. I would like to do a week with someone in Vegas. I am definably a morning person, in bed before 9, up at 5. Yes, I can stay up later for that occasional night out. My TV favorites are watching the Red Sox, Patriots, News channels, History channel, CSI, and Law and Order, and the occasional movie. I don’t drive a motorcycle, though I did for many years. I don’t think I will own one again. I do still have my license. I have never had a pair of snow skis on, so I don’t know if I can still be trained for that LOL. Cross country skiing I would try. I have hiked mountains before, but have let myself slip in the last couple years, shape wise, so would need a good trainer for that (smile) I am easy going, not into material things (happy with used stuff) nor am I obsessed with making lots of money, so an ambitions workaholic type person would have to accept that or we probably won’t be a good match. Time is simply too short now, to be working 50-60 hours a week. I have a good job and pension and can retire in 4 years if I choose to.
I think it is just as important to list what I don’t want or accept in a relationship. This will save both of us from wasting time or being disappointed or worse being hurt. I don’t think I would be really interested in traveling around the world. There is plenty to see in this country, or just outside its boundaries. If you smoke anything, have a substance abuse or gambling problem, I am not interested. Also if you have a need to carry firearms or hunt, I would not be interested. And if you think George Bush is a good president, well that won’t be helpful and probably fatal (smile). Please be relatively baggage free, as I am totally baggage free at this point, and I would like to keep it that way, as much as possible.
