I am loving and caring with old fashioned committed relationship ideals that blend well with my active independent spirit. No games, no come-ons,no pretenses, just me being me and you being you. If you are looking for a logical, straight forward, honest, fun partner with a wonderful sense of humor who rolls with the flow and meets life's adversities head on, then here I am. My friends admire by ability to maintain focus and my sense of humor when faced with some of the unpleasantries life presents. Last year I returned to federal government employment to secure the financial aspects of my retirement and decided that having the financial security is good, but coupling it with good health and a compatible partner would make a GREAT retirement. I am currently working hard to change my eating and exercise habits to a healthier lifestyle. I want a partner who is willing to work with me in reaching a healthy goal he has already met, or working to reach that goal together. Working hard to find a compatible partner is not what I want to do. If it happens, it happens. I am not desperate,and I am not looking for a desperate partner. I've been single since 1991 and have enjoyed the company of only one companion off and on during the past 14 years. Unfortunately he has never become comfortable in his own skin and never gave up hope that I would develop into an unattainable ideal that he thought I should become. I want a partner who enjoys being himself, natural and unpretentious. I am not changing myself just to impress and attract the "wrong" partner and I don't want you to either. I have never been, nor ever will be caught up in the old idea (50 & 60's)that big hair and makeup are what makes a woman sexy and we should all live the ideals of "Father Knows Best." I want a committed lover and partner, not just a sex partner. I am neither media or commercially influenced nor materialistically motivated in my lifestyle and the idea of "keeping up with the Joneses" is not for me. What others think, want, do and have, are up to them. If it is something that is not for me, then it is not for me. I enjoy the simple,practical and easy aspects of life such as laughter, walks, nature, sunrises and sunsets, and the Atlantic coastal areas. I have fun going to yard sales, flea markets, auctions and antiquing and adding unusual conversation pieces to my furnishings. I am a native Washingtonian (DC) and have stayed relatively close to home my whole life. I have not travelled near as much as I would like to. My new job will allow me to travel 2-3 times a year to areas outside my home base and I am looking forward to those trips, as well as many more with a partner who wants to take long weekend trips exploring the U.S. I can stay in a 5 star hotel or camp in a tent. We can visit historical sites and museums or spend the day fishing. As I have aged, I have developed an appreciation for all the services the Washington Metropolitan area offers retirees, but I am still looking for another area (North Carolina is a favorite, but Maine is a plus too) to retire to. I stay involved with my family, children and siblings and look forward to bringing a wonderful committed partner and lover into the fold.
