Personality
In a 300 words or less about me, this is how it happened form early adolescence until now.

I grew up in Spartanburg, SC, broke out of the grip of Catholicism and made it through adolescence, I had been suspended from school more than anyone in the history of the school, somehow graduated without killing myself in a car.

Enlisted in the Navy in 1967, finally got laid, 1968-68 I deployed to Vietnam, came home safe, then deployed to Cambodia in 1970 then went back to Vietnam 1972, got wounded and nearly died in combat Oct 31 1972, got an award for it Oct. 15, 1973, met president Nixon, I got into college, graduated, went to OCS and decided to make a Naval career.

Got married, bought a Mercedes, went broke, wrecked the Mercedes, got divorced, transfered to NAS Key West, went totally crazy, did some drinking, met the right girl, 1975 - 1976 deployed to Angolia, came home safe, had a baby boy. Bought a boat, and sailed away to the Carribean on leave.

Inherited some money bought a house on Marthas Vinyard started spending leave in New England, got married again. broke my leg three times in one year, had a baby girl, 1979 deployed to Tehran, Iran came home safe again, inherited more money. Bought a bigger boat, and sailed away to St. Barts on leave.

I got seperated from the right girl, sold the boat, sold the house in New England, got transferred to VA Beach, went to Brazil for Carnival on leave, learned to fly, flunked my Navy physical eight times but they still kept me, 1982 deployed to Lebanon, broke my arm but made it home safe, without fail 1983 deployed to Grenada, came home safe again.

Trasferred to San Diego, CA, got arrested in Mexicali on leave for being white and drunk in Mexico, spent 4 days in a Mexican jail got released without charges, took extended leave and went to New Zealand for three weeks, stayed drunk with the right girl, survived a storm called bow echo offshore sailing off NZ, came home, did a long joint deployment from 1986 - 1987 to Libya, Bolivia, Haiti, and the Persian Gulf, got wounded, came home, recovered.

Tranferred back to VA, deployed to Panama 1988 then redirected to Columbia, Bolivia and Peru, then back to Panama 1989 came home safe. 1991 deployed to Kuwait for ODS came home, started drinking heavy.
The right girl and I seperated again, so I finally retired in 1992.

Went into therapy, quit drinking, bought my first seaplane, flew all over the Carribean, almost got a second divorce, moved to Malibu for more therapy, and got back with the right girl, moved to New England, took off in an F-14 from an aircraft carrier, bought a home in Houston.

Built a summer home Rhode Island, crashed the perfect seaplane, lived through it thanks to Navy training, the right girl died, tried to slow down for a little, then woke up one morning and I was looking at fifty, trying to figure what comes next.

You have to take the best from whatever the situation is and go on. That's the whole point of life to me. All through American history humorists have served as the nation's tickle spot, people like Mark Twain. I try give people a few shots all the time. It's as much a satirical pinprick as anything else. You just have to remind people of the day-to-day funny things that happen in life.
